The song was one of the few songs written solely by the group themselves and was produced by Nina "Rum" Tarantino under the producing name, FancyN. The song impacted US radio on February 8th, 2016, and was made available for digital download outside of the album globally on February 8th, 2016, only a day after it was premiered during the Super Bowl 50 commercials. With a tempo of 149 beats per minute, Melt is a fast-tempo K-pop song with a heavy Hip Hop influence. Serving as the boldest song recorded by the girls yet, Mi•Mi takes full control in the hard hitting track, declaring war on their estranged label SM Entertainment and swearing to never let anyone else take advantage of them again. The song is inspired by the persona of the green M&M, "Ms. Green", and puts a spin on her sexualized image while using her catchphrase, "I melt for no one" as a slogan of dominance. “We have built our business on creativity and a strong drive for success and no one has proven themselves to live by the same beliefs like Mi•Mi has to us.” M&M representatives stated just weeks ago, taking it upon themselves to gush over the girl group they just named their brand ambassadors. On January 18th, 2016, a $60 million dollar deal between M&M and Mi•Mi was signed after almost 2 full years of negotiations. It was said that it would be an endorsement like no other, serving as a hybrid project that will include a multimillion-dollar fund to support the release and promotion of the 3rd album from Mi•Mi. During the first week of January, the breaking news of Mi•Mi calling it quits after claiming SM Entertainment were violating the basic rights of all 4 members sent fans and spectators into a frenzy, wondering if the group would ever get a chance to share their final album, or even get to finish their first and only world tour. "We just want to make music, we don't care if we have to leak it. We don't care if everybody involved loses billions. This album is important to us, it has a message that is important to us and the world needs to hear it." The girl group posted on their official Korean fancafe the following week. When weeks later the deal with M&M was announced, it was only confirmed that the girls would stop at nothing to get their music out to their fans.
