“AfterDark with Cara Zayn” is an American late-night talk show hosted by Cara Zayn on the E! network. The show premiered on March 18, 2016 and is produced “Half-Moon Productions”. The team behind the talk-show consists of Cara Zayn, Christian Fallon and Eva Montoya and is currently in its first season. The series consists of 10 forty minute episodes which feature a different guest from the entertainment industry on each episode. Each episode airs at 11:30pm every Friday evening and the show execs are currently in talks with the network in regards to a possible second season having earned much higher ratings than initially anticipated.

The format for the show was announced in January 2016 and the E! Network confirmed that they were in talks with a number of well-known names from the entertainment industry as potential hosts for the show, however it was confirmed in early March that Cara Zayn had signed on to host the show having recently left her role at the record label ‘Songs to Love and Die By’, it was announced that Zayn had signed a $250,000 per episode agreement just a week after leaving her former label and she announced that her first guests would be Ryan Ross Hernandez, Weekend and Chantal Hayes. Showing their intentions for the show by having three of the biggest names currently in the music industry to date on the first three episodes of the series. This gave the show a strong following from the beginning with the first three episodes averaging over 6 million viewers, partly down to intrigue over the new show and it’s untested host and also partly down to the high calibre of guests for the series.

“LET’S GET BACK AT IT AGAIN!”

“Hey guys and girls,

Some of you may know that I’ve taken a step back from the spotlight over the last few years in order to enjoy some free time after years of constant work in the industry either as a co-owner of a record label, as a songwriter or a bunch of all kinds of different stuff that I just couldn’t say no to. In my career I’ve dabbled in a lot of different roles and I’ve got some that I considered dream jobs. Spending time with the girls in our touring group ‘Dirty Mouth INC’ being one of them and the day to day running of an alternative record label alongside one of my greatest friends Faith Browdy. But the one thing that I enjoyed the most was the talk show as difficult and rewarding it was with the constant network changes throughout it’s two and a half season run. It was effectively put on hold during season three in 2020 after being taken on by Netflix and after the show went on hold, that was my opportunity to find life once again. Some of you may know I’ve spent the past three years in a relationship, sharing my time between California and Hawaii which is set to be showcased in a fly-on-the-wall Netflix documentary titled ‘Wild Ride’ which is currently in post-production and should be released pretty soon. I’ve done a little freelance work with Half-Moon Music and some songwriting during that time, but other than that I’ve been enjoying the break.

But as some people that know me will agree, I’m someone that has lots of ideas and always wants to jump into projects. One thing that has constantly kept coming back into my mind was the idea that my talk show ‘AfterDark’ was left unfinished. I’ve had meetings with the people at Netflix and while we wait for the documentary series there could space for us to finally finish up the final six episodes of the third season with some new guests. The show will very much look the same but I’m going to be changing the focus a little throughout these final six episodes where this will be less of a promotional tool and opportunity to discuss careers and work and instead will serve as an opportunity to truly get to know the people behind the music. We’ll be having open and honest conversations with each other on all kinds of topics and I’ll be looking to hear some stories from the lifestyle that the artists live that maybe not everybody gets to see. My intention was always for the show to have a little edge to it, hence the title ‘AfterDark’ but somewhere along the line it became a pretty run-of-the-mill promotional stop for artists. Now we’re going to be taking back the name and putting focus on it, we’ll be getting into some adult territory with discussions and topics and hopefully give the show it’s edge back once more.

So with this being said, I’m now looking for the six guests to round out the final episodes of season three and hopefully many more in the near future!
