Genre: R&B, Neo-Soul Written By: Cassie Valentine, Isaac Lovelock, Lynn Graham, Kirk Vargas Producers: Darhyl "Hey DJ" Camper Length: 3:45
Cassie Valentine busted back onto the scene this year with the long awaited release of her third studio album. The album skyrocketed to the top of the charts and further solidified Cassie Valentine as a serious musical force not only on the R&B and urban market, but in music industry itself. With the album still selling like hotcakes and Cassie readying a tour for later this year, is wasting new time on releasing the next single from Matrimony the album. After previous singles "Hurt" and promo release "Neck Kisses" became certified hits, it is interesting as to where Cassie wanted to go with the next release from the album where many of the records could be potential singles. After some thinking and a meeting with her label, it was down to Cassie and she chose her favorite song from the album as the next single, the album title track "Matrimony" which features a surprise verse from Isaac Lovelock who has not been apart of anything musically for a long while. Matrimony is the next single to be taken from Cassie Valenties third studio album is is final track to come off of the standard edition of Cassie's Valentine's third studio album of the same name. The record was produced by Darhyl "Hey DJ" Camper who Cassie has worked with in the past and was so called on to do this record. Matrimony also includes a surprise rap appearance and collaboration by Isaac Lovelock. Lovelock has not done any rap collaborations since his last appearance on Spitset early in 2015. This record serves as the final note or testament before the ending of the album and story. "Matrimony" (song) raps up the songs elements and themes into one and gives the album a solidified ending. The record was originally recorded in December of 2015, but after Cassie had the idea to bring in a male vocal the song wasn't done until early February. This prompted Cassie Valentine to tentatively push the album back from it's original Valentine's day album date. For the song, which is about the downfall of a commitment and marriage bringing in a male vocal was almost eminent. The record pits a male and female against each other as they spill out their feelings and differences over laid back, yet soulful and captivating production. Production wise, the song plays with a bare bones of R&B with it's piano led beat that sets Cassie’s captivating, angelic vocals as the centerpiece. Casse looks back on years of love and betray in an angry lullaby like style that delivers its message in volumes with prowess in Cassie's vocals. Isaac joins in, playing the counterpart in the song. He raps his verse with pure grit, as he gives his side of the story and defends himself. This isn't the regular rap collaboration where the rapper does a quick opening or ending of a song. Instead, Isaac takes on three separate tracks of the record giving "Matrimony" a true collaborative story like feeling with a beginning, middle, and ending. The fact that Cassie and Isaac have such chemistry over the record, it ends the album on a beautiful note and is the perfect single to be taken off of the album. Sure, Cassie could have gone with a club banger as the next single but it seems as if Cassie isn't interested in appealing to the masses of radio but instead wants to deliver music to radio that is true to her roots and contemporary for listeners to absorb the lyrics and the story being told on the record. "Matrimony" by Cassie is a ballad that properly reminds us that soul music is alive and well, and by all accounts isn't going anywhere as long as Cassie is around. The record impacts digital retailers right now, and will be sent to radio on May 31st, 2016. CassieIsaac-- The day you came back to me, Is a week after I found you cheating on us. Now all of a sudden, you ask me to come back? What kind of sucker do you take me for?
Love is like an ocean. How so? It can keep pulling you back and forth, Making you toss and turn until you’ve just about had enough. So stop making me say it twice, because it’s just too much to comprehend.
I thought this was suppose to be our matrimony Lately this shit became so damn unholy Boy, after all these years come to find out you just a phony? My heart is so broken, I don't feel the pain anymore It's time for my heart to mend, no need in working things out Just pack your bags, I'm signing those papers I thought this was suppose to be our matrimony I thought this was suppose to be our matrimony
Oh, why can’t you just get the message? Can’t you see I’m busy right now. Or more specifically, every time you are around. Please just continue on your way. It’s the same every day with you, Five days a week, with the day not ending soon enough. Or if I can get any more unlucky, You just so happen to visit my house on Saturday just as well.

Yeah can you tell me why I hate myself? Better yet, can you tell me why I blame myself? Cuz for me to take the blame would mean that I’m pretending Just to protect you it’s the truth that I’m bending Every scenario it’s always you I’m defending Why the hell you gotta be so condescending You walking out on me? I hate that ending So I’m gonna rewrite it, revise and edit
Oh really?
This time I won’t take a single ounce of credit For you turning your back on me as if we were nothing If that’s what you think let me show you something You see all these pictures in my photo album? You have those same photos or did you forget about em? I look at em’ every day, I can’t live without em’ Those are cold, hard proof it’s kinda hard to doubt em’ I’ll admit, memories can sometimes be exaggerated a little And humans like to lie, the truth is somewhere in the middle But I shouldn’t have to fiddle With proving that we were real because I know that you know, I loved to the moon yo’

You can act like you don’t care but our connection will be missed So don’t get pissed off at me when you go to reminisce And realize that all you got left of us is memories It’ll hurt when you remember me To add insult to injury You’re gonna be all alone, how’s that for security?
I thought this was suppose to be our matrimony I thought this was suppose to be our matrimony Just pack your bags, I'm signing those papers
