Tom Orgsen Announces First Solo Album
The mastermind behind extreme metal masters The Enlightened announces his first solo album. The swedish musician confirms ...Of Glory And Decay as the title for his expected solo debut album. The album is described as a classic-thrash metal effort, influenced by a large number of books and films about the 20th Century's greatest conflict.
The idea from the war-themed release came to Orgsen's mind even before the formation of black metal band REÄLM. OFGAD was intended to be released when the band broke up but Tom decided to continue with a new band, The Enlightened, instead of working on his solo album.
Tom will be accompanied by his brother, drummer Bjarne Orgsen, the ex-REÄLM guitarist Terje Lundsten and bassist Bill Owens, who will also serve as producer. The album was recorded using analago techniques, which is a first-timer for both Tom, and producer Bill Owens. The musicians confirms that "the album sounds very classic, listen it with your headphones and you will be back to the greatest age for thrash metal, the 80's."
...Of Glory And Decay is a concept album about the Second World War. Tom is a confessed military-history fanatic and has been working on this release since the year 2015, just after the release of The Enlightened's second album, Mythos. Near 60 minutes of pure thrash metal influenced by legends like Megadeth, Sodom, Metallica, Destruction and Kreator.
The tracklist is going to be confirmed soon, but it's now revealed that some tracks are: Silence And The Beast, Rotterdam Burning and the three-piece ambitious trilogy which entitles the album and tells about the forging, the glory and the decay of the Nazi Germany.
Tom Orgsen wrote:This is liberating...I started out as a thrash metal guitarist back in the 80's, and this is the first time I can release an album close to my roots. I was just a kid listening to Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus, Slayer, Kreator...They were my biggest influences and I always wanted to put out a decent thrash metal band...That never went ok, so I began playing extreme metal. But now, it's time to release the album I always wanted to release, I have been working on it since 2015, but some lyrics and ideas come from even before founding REÄLM.
I'm totally excited about this WWII-themed album, it's a thrash metal soundtrack to the greatest conflict of the modern history, I'm such a fan of this topics...And I'm a total anti-Nazi guy, don't believe I'm a fucking skinhead, hate them! It's great to have my brother and two of my closest-friends on this release, recording it was a fantastic and incredible task, so much fan and energy! Hope you like this thrash metal militar album haha!
