Chaelins debut single had been set back multiple times, due to scheduling conflicts and other issues. Working for a straight year in the studio many expected her to have something out by late last year, but that never came to be and many were left disappointed. Chaelin had multiple meetings with label executives until late April. She finally decided that she wanted to release a summer tune in early May. Out of forty songs, Chaelin picked the most radio friendly track. She wanted to make sure she had a hit to support her debut album when it came out this late July. Chaelin was very anxious to debut her single and wanted to set it back to late June. FivePeskyKids then notified her that her album would be set back till Septemeber if a July release did not happen. She finally decided to have one more meeting with her label, and the outcome of that was the reassurance of the release of the single in May. Right before her single release Pesky gave her a spot at the FCA's to get her name out there once more. The single was finally released by, FivePeskyKids. The single "Do My Own" lyrically revolves around a girl who is leaving a bland relationship. After the leaving the relationship she goes on and tells her partner that she'll go own and do her own "thang". Before she does she makes it obvious that she already knew he had moved on from the relationship, so her departing wouldn't be such a big deal. The woman in the single then goes on and most likely tries to have a couple of rebounds shortly after she left her partner. After the chorus, it goes back to explaining why the women left the unexciting relationship and even compares her ex to the color "teal" which is cool tone gray. After stating her reasoning once again the song goes back into the chorus and then shortly after an ending breakdown comes. In the breakdown, she tells her ex that he knew she was leaving, but he still didn't change a thing. Then she goes on and tells him she go on and most likely have many men on her body soon. The single was written by, Chaelin Hue & Julia Michaels. The single "Do My Own" was produced and mixed in London. Chaelin had multiple studio sessions in Las Angeles and London, traveling back and forth recording multiple tracks. The track "Do My Own" came about when Chaelin was having a conversation with songwriter Julia Michaels about how women are seen as "whores" when rebounding, but men always have a free card to do whatever after breakups. The both wrote the song as a joke and didn't expect it to come out so radio friendly like it did. Chaelin wasn't sure she would add the track to the album until the mixed version was emailed to her back in February. The track was produced by, LosOscuros . Never knew what I had Til I fell in too deep Reevaluate what we have And everything in-between
You'd never seemed to care But everyone was so aware We're going back and forth, oh A relationship with no repair
So go on back on what you doing We've all known who are you fooling? No time for ridiculing, oh, oh Got my time back for a cooling I and my body will be moving No need for a proper ruling, oh, oh
I'll do my thang, I'll go and do my own thang Don't need you chico And it's all okay I'll go and do my own thang My, my, my own thang
Gonna be a new lolita Drink up on margaritas Maybe hook up with the barista
I'll do my thang, I'll go and do my own thang I'll go and do my own thang And it's all okay I'll go and do my own thang My, my, my own thang
Keep it short and simple Give them plenty of signals Got all the time to rekindle
With you, everything felt unreal We'd always grown so apart You were bland as the color teal You could never play your part

You never believed that I would leave And you still didn't change a thing I'll go on and do my own thang Like have hands all over my body Like have hands all over my body Like have hands all over my body Like have hands all over my bodyEdited by user 22 May 2017 09:49:49(UTC)
