Immideately following her exit from Celebrity Big Brother, the singer promised fans new music despite an unforseeable pregnancy with celebrity co star Adam Black. Despite the sudden pregnancy, "Free to Love" was already written and record prior to Ortiz coming on to the show. A music video was also shot by music video director Hannah Lux Davis. The song was written by Stephanie Ortiz and produced by long time collaborator and producer Throat Cutters. The song contains a proggesive house sound with a mix of world beat instruments and electric synths. Stephanie's vocals are charged and bright throughout the song keeping up with the energy of the song. There's a subtle reference to a classic old school hip hop beat heard in the bridges. The song's lyrics are also both in English and Spanish, some parts containing Spanglish lyrics. The song's lyrics talk about being free to love; no matter the distance. The song lysics also pays tribute to the LGBTQ+ community with words "You're free to love whoever you want to love" and "la vida es así, un amor como el nuestro no es común" while also talking about distance being a hindrance in their love. "The main ingridient in this song is to make people move and feel good. I wanted to bring that extra world feel flavor in there with the sound and beat. It kind of makes you feel like you're in India partying your life away. Bringing my native toungue into the mix also feels really authentic to me. House music has always been a huge part of me since I started doing music so to kind of bring that back to mys sound with this song felt really spec ial. What's beutiful is that most of the song had already been recorded prior to my pregnancy. I was able to shoot a music video as well, so to be able to complete the album while being pregnant, it brings so much joy to my pregnancy now and this song in particular just stood out because it feels so good. I wanted to give my fans and latin people some flavor that's been missing for a long time. Authentic latin pop music with an American twist to it but there's also a bit of other cultures in there too!".
