Bilal "Billy" Shaeen Khan-Holmes was born on May 24th 1993 and was raised in Hackney, London, England. Billy is the second youngest of four siblings. He has an elder brother, Sayyid, and an elder sister, Faiza. His younger brother, Deneil, is also in the music business - a critically acclaimed Grime artist. Billy's childhood was far from conventional. His family were often in trouble with the law and his parents had a volatile relationship, leading to Billy and Deneil being taken into the care system while his older siblings went to live with an aunt. He and Deneil also briefly lived on the streets as teenagers, often sleeping outside and sometimes seeking out affordable hostels or sofa surfing among trusted friends. Despite his rocky life, Billy remained a very creative soul, creating art projects and helping out with the cooking in his care home.

Billy was staying over at a friend's house, practically living on the couch when he read about the auditions for a vocal pop group project. He was initially reluctant at first, thinking that nobody would be interested in hiring a homeless teenager. Billy was always praised for his singing although he never made a show of it, with no real audience and more important matters at hand. With the auditions being held in the same city and a few words of encouragement from his younger brother, Billy applied. He has been quoted saying "I literally had nothing to lose at the time. If I failed, back to reality. If I succeeded, the only way was up." Billy successfully auditioned with Whitney Houston's "My Love is Your Love". Welcome to Weekend. Life changed for Billy in October 2011 - moving into a London bedsit with four other boys, simultaneously finding housing, employment and friends, while also singing and creating every day. While life for the Hackney boy did a complete 180, it'd be selling him short to say that is where his story began. From Day 1, Bilal has kept everyone on their toes.

Billy leads a colourful life. His dark sense of humour, lack of filter, controversial opinions and willingness to get naked at the drop of a hat keep him in the tabloids on a daily basis. With his turbulent past and brash personality, Billy is always a talking point. Even his love life is unconventional to most; married to Jerry Holmes as well as being part of an open relationship with his husband, his ex-wife Andrea Mason and her current partner Payton Rodriguez. Billy has a son with Andrea, Daniel.

After becoming a household name almost a decade ago, racking up accolades, records and acclaim as one fifth of Weekend, 2020 now sees Billy stepping out on his own. While adamant that he'll never leave the band, he still believes it is time to briefly step away from the project to focus on his own art - creating his own sound, sharing his own stories and visions. He is a lover of R&B and names Michael and Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Brandy and Aaliyah as influences, a far cry from the stadium rock/pop anthemic sounds of his boyband.

Billy released his debut single; "Attention" in February 2020 to critical acclaim. It debuted at #1 and has gone on to become one of the best-selling tracks of the year, still charting within the Top 20 6 months after its release. His debut album, "TARANTULA", is also set to drop this year. With his solo efforts, guest spots as a featured artist and as part of Weekend, Billy's vocals have appeared on 13 #1 songs.....all before dropping his first body of work. Can you say "iconic"?
