“Bandages and Gauze: World Tour” is a concert tour from American alternative rock singer-songwriter ‘Amy Meyer’ in support of her 2020 solo sophomore album “bandages and gauze” which was released in November 2020, five years after the release of her debut solo album. It marks the first time Amy has toured since 2016 when she hit the road for the final time with her band ‘Riot! In The Boulevard’. In the period since the band’s hiatus, Amy Meyer took a break from the industry in order to recharge her batteries and step out of the spotlight she had been in since she was 17 years old. She surprised everybody by dropping her latest album “bandages and gauze” as she hadn’t been heard from in over year before that album was dropped and in a recent in-depth interview with Half-Moon Music she talked about her own personal issues holding her back. She spoke about the size of the venues she played with Riot! and stated that she didn’t know if she ever wanted to be that famous again which was an indicator that she would downscale things when it came to her own solo tour and play more intimate venues that the music lends itself to.
Official Statement“It feels a little strange to be writing this currently as there was a period very recently when the idea of touring again seemed very distant if not completely unlikely at all for myself. But live performance has always been the thing that has given me life and I do think somewhere deep down beyond the layers there is a part of me that needs the stage and the audience. This is a world tour, but those of you that have seen me live in a past life with a band beside me and boundless energy as a I bounced around the stage and screamed and shouted and attempted to sing, please know that this will be a different beast. The venue’s will be smaller and the performance more intimate as the music played almost demands it. This feels like new territory for me and I’m not even sure why I’m so nervous about live performance, something I have done for so many years and so many shows. But this is going to be very different from what I’m used to and so I ask that if you are only a Riot! fan, please understand that this will be a very different beast. The songs performed on this tour will be primarily taken from “bandages and gauze” and will follow the tone of that record.
I hope to see you at the shows, this will be terrifying for myself but we’ll make the evenings as beautiful and special as possible.”
- Amy MeyerThe tour begins in North America in March 2021 and will stretch over four legs, it’s a scaled down version of a world tour in comparison to previous tours with Riot! In The Boulevard and will see Amy Meyer performing live in smaller more intimate settings than the stadiums and arena’s that she performed in with her band. It will also see ticket prices at the lower end for an act as renowned as Amy Meyer with the North American prices at $30.00. It’s expected that Amy will be bringing a number of support acts on the tour with her, one element from her time with Riot! was the importance and support that they provided to opening acts in an opportunity for them to be seen and heard by more and more fans. Support acts will be announced in the coming weeks.
