The song was released on July 22th, 2021 through Permanent Reminder and serves as a first debut single from the upcoming debut album "Elope" also the clean version made available to streaming platform including radio. Prior to release "Something New" in 2018 Ciara made in The Four Battle of Stardom but placed as Runner Up as it didn't let her down as she easily draw attention from different music platform fans as more the it grew the more fame she get but it didn't take long as she was noticed by record label "Permanent Reminder" in 2020 & she signed them the next day. She is contestant for La Isla in Oct 2020 but the show got suspended/canceled due to covid-19 and she was noticeable for kissing JT while on La Isla. After La Isla was suspended Ciara continued to work on her debut studio album and looking forward to having the success & have her debut album completion & "Something New" was chosen as her debut single & it was breakup anthem song as she try not to do the love or crush song as she try to do it her own way. Her song was supposed to release in February but it went pushback to July 2021. "Something New" was written by Rachel Assil, with production coming from producer "Prince Chrishan" & was recorded in November of 2020.. Something New is like you over your ex's & they still not over you & you just happy then that ex's come up & you just tell them to their face like hey i got something new so move on already. The song feature catchy vocal from Ciara of intro then did the pre-chorus & chorus as the beat started to rise with melody as it try to catch up with the song. Then it went into the verse 1 as Ciara switch up the attitude tone on the song then the 2nd verse came she goes right into smooth airy angelic voice.
