 Name:Pray For Me Album: Mainstream Clash Artist: Japanese Cartoon Genre: Alt. Rock Label: Independent This is the second single from Japanese Cartoon off of there new project Mainstream Clash, with the first one being "What I Would Say," Pray for me was done on the road during October of this year while the group was doing local shows in the LA area. Chris is the main vocalist on the single and he is backed up by his band mates. It is a story about someone really to break away from what they know and what they are told to. They trying to leave an environment to be whole but they may break from leaving this safety net so they want someone to pray for them. While the message is some what a positive one the imagery is anything but. The slow windup from the piano the breaking of the door, it is a a dark tone in music that reflects in Chris's voice that gives it a spooky vibe to it. Almost in a trance, the thing that is the safe haven could be the thing that is harming the person. Really I thought it was going to be my song but Chris, begged me to sing it and he said he had a few things he was working on and was going to let me be on them. He sounded so well, that we just decided to let him have this one. It works, when it comes to him and he gets motivated he can really put something special together and it is great to see it first hand. The story goes that this is really about leaving a cult. Bet you didn't see that one coming, there is these two people and one of them is getting whispers on the other side and they want to go back into society but they are afraid, one of them just had enough and is ready to leave and he telling the other one, pray for me cause I may not be whole when I leave this place but I don't want to be here anymore. Chicago: TOTALLY not biased when I say you're my favorite band right now! What a beautiful yet haunting song. I can really relate to the lyrics; moving continents, leaving education, entering the music world. Maybe not as intense as leaving a cult but there's still some crossover there, haha! I'm sure this will touch so many other people and allow them to imprint their own experiences onto it too. Wonderful work! Sexy vocalist too... |
