London-based band Jugendstil has just unleashed their debut album, "Fenklup". Formed by the duo Tim Green and Daniel Hayes, the band's lineup expanded with the addition of French singer Eloïse Desrosiers and Dutch bass player Elke Hoekstra, whose haunting backing vocals add an eerie layer to the band's unmistakable sound.

However, Jugendstil adamantly resists being labeled a political band with protest songs; instead, they see themselves as an art object, a sentiment reinforced by the quality of the album's cover art, meticulously designed for vinyl collectors.

The album kicks off with a five-minute headbanger, "Chambord Pogo", introducing Eloïse's voice after a hypnotic instrumental sequence of nearly four minutes. The standout track, "Antisong 74", serves as the first single, addressing Jugendstil's recurrent theme—the struggle against alienation. "Fragile Human Defenses" follows, exploring how we communicate to conceal imperfections in a world driven by image. Elke Hoekstra's serene harmonies provide a perfect falsetto counterpoint to Desrosiers' deep voice, creating a dynamic interplay.

The album concludes with the two Head Bangers "Mothlight" (borrowing its title to a movie from avant-garde director Stan Brakhage), and "Neon Pink Bike" where the listenner embark on a ride where freedom is just an illusion.

Jugendstil, signed to Head South Records, is not aiming for mainstream charts. Instead, they present themselves as a niche band, adept at mixing genres and possessing a strong musical and vocal identity with a huge load of diverse inspirations.

Head South Records Welcomes Brighton’s Little Minx to Their Roster


Brighton's alternative music scene has produced another band to watch, and Head South Records has snatched them up. Meet Little Minx, the experimental trio blending minimalist post-punk, lo-fi, and electronic sounds. Led by Oona Clarke, who has already caught the attention of the indie label’s scouts, the newly formed band has now officially been signed to Head South.

This isn’t a total surprise for label insiders. Lucy Hansen, the band’s razor-sharp guitarist, worked as a receptionist for Head South for several months, all while quietly honing her craft. Now, she’s trading the front desk for the stage, joined by Nieve Rendell on the drum machine, whose relentless beats provide the backbone for Little Minx’s hypnotic sound. Together, the trio has developed a sound that strips music down to its barest elements, turning repetition and rhythm into something both cerebral and infectious.




With a heavy emphasis on basslines and minimalistic drum machine grooves, Little Minx is all about atmosphere and precision. Clarke’s deadpan, spoken-word vocals are delivered with a rhythmic flair, adding a hypnotic layer that pulls listeners into their unconventional soundscapes.

London-based post-rock outfit Jugendstil are back, and their new single, "Fractal Mind of a Crowd", is everything fans have come to expect from their intense, cerebral style—plus a few added layers of tension. Inspired by Gustave Le Bon's "Psychology of Crowds", "Fractal Mind*/" isn’t just a track; it's a study in collective mania; the song explores the almost mystical effect of group dynamics and the feeling of losing oneself in collective emotion.

Fronted by French vocalist and keyboardist Éloïse Desrosiers, Jugendstil blends post-rock with elements of krautrock, creating a sound both relentless and oddly hypnotic.
