“My Kinda Girl/Mi Tipo De Chica” is the second single to be lifted from Malik Jarvez’s second album “Memoirs From Puerto Rico”. The single follows on from the hugely successful lead single “Sexy Red Heels” which hit the top of the charts at the start of the year. Malik first performed a snippet of “My Kinda Girl/Mi Tipo De Chica” in its English form at the Universal Music Awards and fans have been patiently waiting for the song full release. The song was written by the 27 year-old himself and has a run-time of three minutes and three seconds. Production for the track was handled by Camilo Vargas and Mauricio Rengifo who making their production debuts for Malik. Unlike pervious single the English version is actually sung entirely in English
“My Kinda Girl/Mi Tipo De Chica” once again explores Malik’s more naughty side as he talks about bedroom antics and how he can please a woman, their is also a clever use of the word whistle as an alternative to saying the word penis which is subtle and makes the song just that little less rude if you don't know what he actually talking about.
Critical reception for “My Kinda Girl/Mi Tipo De Chica” has been positive with many of the critics claiming that Malik just keeps dropping bop after bop and is taking the music industry by storm. Adam Levitt wrote in his review which he gave the song a 9/10. “Aye honestly if Malik keeps dropping hits like this we are gonna have a new main pop boy on our hands, wait correct myself Latin pop boy, this track is fire yet again…if this isn't another huge hit for the young man I will riot!”. Trisha Mendes wrote in her review. “God damn I can see why this guy isn't single and his wife is super lucky what I'd do to ‘blow on his whistle’ as he puts it. But enough fantasizing this song is a bop, the beat is super funky and catchy plus the way he delivers those sultry vocal is just the icing on the cake.” James Faden wrote in his review. “Lyically this is nothing special I mean what guy doesn't talk about his penis these days and pleasing women…but aside from the lyrics this once again a proper banger of a tune from Mr Jarvez.” Jessie McAdams wrote in her review.”Aye papi indeed, this track is just as spicy as his last one not that I am complaining because this track is once again and absolutely tune lyrically naughty, the beat is so danceable and definitely will have girls like me booty shaking to his in the clubs that's for sure.”
