With the release of “Heart of the Jungle” we finally see confirmation that the group are continuing to push ahead with their sophomore album, between the lead singles release in February and the follow-up being released in early September there have been constant rumours and murmuring about issues behind the scenes with some even suggesting that the album is unlikely to be completed. It’s previously been confirmed by members of the group that recording sessions as a group are incredibly difficult and often strained due to different ideas and styles and with Jadyn Ghalen confirming that he is also pulling double duty by working on his own solo stuff alongside the recording sessions for ‘Orion II’. But with the release of this brand new single, it appears to indicate that the album is still very much on track. The latest studio update from those working behind the scenes appear to indicate that the recording of the album is almost fully complete and the whole project is about to move into the final stages of post-production with around half of the tracks fully completed at this point. In a recent live chat with fans, Brayton Carter discussed the slow progress of the record but assured fans that the sophomore album was still on track, “People pick up on this shit constantly, but any group will have the same issues. The three of us have such different styles and ideas about what our music should be, it just ain’t so easy to come up with an album worth of material that you all agree on. It’s a slower process than most, for sure. But we still grinding away on the record and trying to make it the best the record we can make in this moment. The shit that we read about bad blood and fallout is fucking wild to us, we don’t always agree on the shit that we’re doing but we ain’t on that rivalry shit that people liked to talk about.” which certainly laid to rest the rumours of possible break-up talk. During the same chat, Brayton discussed themes of the album and highlighted “Heart of the Jungle” as one of his personal favourites, “There are some tracks that you finish and listen back to and you just know that they’re going to be a stand-out of the record. We try to catch that lightening on every track we create but some just hit differently. For me, the next single is one that we were all on the same vibe with and it definitely shows in the track. I knew that “Heart of the Jungle” would be a single at some point, I think we had it listed as the third single but have pushed ahead with it as the second single from the record because it sets the whole vibe of the album off perfectly and gives you a real idea of what to expect from the record. We all felt like we had created something on a different level with that track and hopefully it translates to our fanbase when we finally drop the thing.”“Heart of the Jungle” is an aggressive sounding hip-hop track, with influence in the music taken from late 1990’s hip-hop and rap, heavy on the drum backbeat with a consistent bass pulsating through with both in combination dictating the rhythm and tone of the song. Other elements of the music include computer generated keyboard tones to add an additional layer of melody into the track but with its emphasis remaining on the bpm generated by the drum and bass central focus of the song’s overall music landscape. Lyrically the track matches the tone of the music with each verse seeing Brayton (Bellows), Jadyn (Boa) and Jamal (Circuit) in fighting talk mode, staking their claim as artists that are at the very top of their game, emphasising the need to be relentless in their work ethic to maintain their position in the music industry and have a seat at the table. They place emphasis on the competitive nature of the music industry and their willingness to back up their own cause in the studio, making it clear to listeners that they don’t plan on going away anytime soon and that the nature of their competitive personalities is what draws them to continue to work harder at their craft than most others in order to have their name put on the highest of pedestals in the music industry. In the final verse Jamal (Circuit) hints at the realisation that for most artists and acts, their time at the very top in the music industry can often be rather temporary and so that if the same fate falls on ‘Orion’ they will make sure they covered as much ground as they can and have a good time while enjoying the fruits of their success and popularity. The track was written and recorded in February 2024 at Studio60 Recording Studios in West Hollywood, California during the early stages of the albums recording sessions for “Orion II” which is expected late 2024 or early 2025. The music was created by ‘Orion’ and their producer ‘Young Khalifa’ with the lyrics created by each member of the group. With the release of this single, it continues the anticipation for their sophomore album following on from “All Accelerator, No Brakes” and follows similar themes of ambition and pressure. The single will be released as a CD Single, Digital Download, 7” Single and made available to Weekly Airplay worldwide via ‘Tric-Jam Records’ from September 13, 2024.
