“Money Maker” is a single by American hip-hop group ‘Orion’ taken from their upcoming sophomore album “Orion II”, marking the third single to be dropped from their latest offering as the album’s release continues to gather pace with rumours of a December 2024 release date. Their latest single comes after the group dropped the official album cover with the caption “coming soon” and rumours from inside the ‘Orion’ camp have stated that they’re planning on releasing a couple of singles in November ahead of the albums December release, with “Money Maker” being released in early November, it’s expected that another will follow in late November as their final album pre-release offering. It’s being rumoured that the group have been pushing strongly for the album and promo to be released before the end of the year in order for the group to announce some tour dates in early 2025, although an extensive world tour is reportedly off the table, likely to just consist of a handful of dates in major cities over the course of a month of two. It’s thought that the reasoning behind this is to allow each member an extensive period of time to focus on their own individual ambitions, having committed to the group consistently since their debut in 2020. Passing up on various outside opportunities while committed to getting their first studio albums under their belt.

In a recent interview yet to be released, Jamal spoke of their future plans, “We got a commitment to three albums, that’s our deal with ‘Tric-Jam Records’ and we always knew we’d put the first two records out there on a real tight schedule. Right now it’ll be two years between our first and second records, so that’s a pretty fucking crazy run. We gonna take our time for that third record cause that shit could be our last as a group. After we drop the second album we’re free to talk to labels about our future after the third record but I don’t even know if we’re gonna continue as a group after three albums. We’ve all passed up on a lot of crazy shit we’ve been offered and I think we gotta take some of those opportunities that we ain’t been able to do because of the commitment to the group. For real though, I think we all wanna do our own shit for the next few years.”

Their latest offering see’s the group rap over an energetic and up-tempo trap beat changing direction slightly in the aftermath of their previous single “Heart of the Jungle” which featured an intense and aggressive back beat throughout. In this one, they speak directly to their current experiences as hot properties within the music industry and the fame culture in general, of which the track indicates that they’re certainly not against this level of adoration and worship that they receive, along with the lifestyle that they’re able to live as a result of their early success. The track features a verse from each member and a couple of repeated choruses delivered by Jamal “Circuit” Ghalen.
The track was written and recorded in May 2024 at Studio60 Recording Studios in West Hollywood, California around halfway into the recording sessions for the sophomore album “Orion II”. The music was created by ‘Orion’ and their producer ‘Young Khalifa’ and the lyrics provided by each member of the group on their own specific verses. The track will be released as a CD Single, Digital Download and 7” Single and made available to Weekly Airplay worldwide via ‘Tric-Jam Records’ from November 9, 2024.

Song Description;

The song begins with an electronic piano sequence initially starting midtempo before a strong bassline comes in during the early stages of the opening verse, adding a little more energy to the track and switching the songs vibe more up-tempo with a heavy trap influence, using some studio effects to the vocals to add that similar trap tone to the vocals to match the instrumentation as “Circuit” takes on the opening verse, delivering his soliloquy about fame from his own perspective, “Yeah, I got a mountain of money and shit is just pilling up/Took a year off to show the old me some love/Now we back in the business and we back in the game/Let the net worth keep rising along with the fame/And motherfucker we like to make an entrance, we like to keep these fuckers on their toes/When we decide to step up, we keep it relentless/We blow the roof off when we in the building/Let em talk the shit they gotta say, cause we don’t fuck with feelings.” which immediately links the energy of the track to the sentiment displayed in the songs lyrics, confrontational and confident as he continues, “Rumour mill swirling cause our name creates attention/When we cooking, shit hits a new dimension/Let’s talk about tension/I’ve been known to throw my fists/Yeah, I’ve been known to fuck their side chicks/Cheap thrills and a quick fix/They know how to find those nasty ones/Cause those pretty queens know how to suck a dick/They know how to play the game/They ain’t out here waiting til’ true love comes.” which feels like ends the verse on an unfinished note until the tracks chorus immediately follows.

The true energy of the track is showcased during the songs chorus, sung by “Circuit” and enhanced with the use of studio effects to give off that trademark trap vibe, high energy with auto-tune elements adding a club anthem feel to the song as he delivers the chorus “Everybody likes to fuck with me/Cause I’mma money maker/Companies want me signing deals/Cause they all want the paper/Models and minor celebrities/Like to chill with players/Everybody likes to fuck with me/Cause I’mma money maker.” which serves as the songs hook to draw the listener into the track and keep them for the duration, it’s quick-fire and catchy with high energy and an underlying party tone that could see the track becoming a nightclub staple for years to come.

As we arrive at the tracks second verse, it’s turn for “Bellows” to deliver his own perspective on the fame, opting to put focus on his own internal expectations of himself and how he backs himself to maintain success because he’s aware of his own strong work ethic. “Man, I’m the king of my castle and the company I keep/Got my Queen by my side and I keep this shit real/Don’t fuck with distractions, all of their vices and virtues/I keep my shit locked down in the studio, that place is my workroom/You know I like to keep it humble/Away from the spotlight/Keep my head down, grinding, working on my craft and my pride/Others like to shout it loud from the rooftops to the whole fucking world watching outside/But I’ll back my own talent up/Bury my doubters with a verbal apartheid/I’ll play along with their games/But I’mma wipe the slate clean/Have em’ running back to their drawing boards/Re-evaluating their scheme.” which serves to show the different myriad of personality and mindset between each member of the group as “Bellows” puts emphasis on keeping things humble and letting his work do his talking for him, rather than re-affirming his own self-belief by shouting it from the rooftops. The tracks chorus follows once more, again with “Circuit” delivering it with in-studio effects adding to the energy of the delivery.

The energy shifts up a gear during the songs final chorus, with a rapid fire delivery from “Boa” as he talks about the various superficial benefits of the fame that he’s received and certainly enjoys, “Yeah, I can’t count all the models coming in from the valley/They all made up, fake lips, fake titties, fake butt/They like to fuck with their heels on, they say they like to keep it classy/But when I hit it from the back, they out here gettin’ nasty/I got two begging baby please fuck me and another screaming out that I’m her daddy/I ain’t got a spare moment to ask somebody to pinch me/I gotta take the opportunities that all of this success brings me/They weren’t queuing up before I made it.” which hints at the idea of just what success and fame can bring to your life and change it so drastically as he continues to highlight the benefits of the fame and it’s slightly looser morals, “They just like to fuck/Cause we wild, young and famous/And the house in the hill got em’ vibing/The coke and the pills got us flyin’/The money and fame/Changing the game/Maybe this is my heaven/Cause it feels like they got me dead on arrival.” which highlights all three members different perspectives of the benefits of fame, before “Circuit” delivers the chorus once more as the song fades out to its natural conclusion. Bringing an end to the track.

“Yeah, I got a mountain of money and shit is just pilling up
Took a year off to show the old me some love
Now we back in the business and we back in the game
Let the net worth keep rising along with the fame
And motherfucker we like to make an entrance, we like to keep these fuckers on their toes
When we decide to step up, we keep it relentless
We blow the roof off when we in the building
Let em talk the shit they gotta say, cause we don’t fuck with feelings
Rumour mill swirling cause our name creates attention
When we cooking, shit hits a new dimension
Let’s talk about tension
I’ve been known to throw my fists
Yeah, I’ve been known to fuck their side chicks
Cheap thrills and a quick fix
They know how to find those nasty ones
Cause those pretty queens know how to suck a dick
They know how to play the game
They ain’t out here waiting til’ true love comes

Everybody likes to fuck with me
Cause I’mma money maker
Companies want me signing deals
Cause they all want the paper
Models and minor celebrities
Like to chill with players
Everybody likes to fuck with me
Cause I’mma money maker

Man, I’m the king of my castle and the company I keep
Got my Queen by my side and I keep this shit real
Don’t fuck with distractions, all of their vices and virtues
I keep my shit locked down in the studio, that place is my workroom
You know I like to keep it humble
Away from the spotlight
Keep my head down, grinding, working on my craft and my pride
Others like to shout it loud from the rooftops to the whole fucking world watching outside
But I’ll back my own talent up
Bury my doubters with a verbal apartheid
I’ll play along with their games
But I’mma wipe the slate clean
Have em’ running back to their drawing boards
Re-evaluating their scheme

Everybody likes to fuck with me
Cause I’mma money maker
Companies want me signing deals
Cause they all want the paper
Models and minor celebrities
Like to chill with players
Everybody likes to fuck with me
Cause I’mma money maker

Yeah, I can’t count all the models coming in from the valley
They all made up, fake lips, fake titties, fake butt
They like to fuck with their heels on, they say they like to keep it classy
But when I hit it from the back, they out here gettin’ nasty
I got two begging baby please fuck me and another screaming out that I’m her daddy
I ain’t got a spare moment to ask somebody to pinch me
I gotta take the opportunities that all of this success brings me
They weren’t queuing up before I made it
They just like to fuck
Cause we wild, young and famous
And the house in the hill got em’ vibing
The coke and the pills got us flyin’
The money and fame
Changing the game
Maybe this is my heaven
Cause it feels like they got me dead on arrival

Everybody likes to fuck with me
Cause I’mma money maker
Companies want me signing deals
Cause they all want the paper
Models and minor celebrities
Like to chill with players
Everybody likes to fuck with me
Cause I’mma money maker”

Billy: Fucking Hell, you've only went and done it again, haven't you?! Love how you always manage to somehow showcase all of your individual personalities and perspectives while simultaneously sounding cohesive as a unit. Epic song. This track makes me feel like a sexy rich king. Oh, wait...I already am! ;) Nevertheless, blinding release, guys.

Brayton: Appreciate the words! I gotta feeling you know that shit ain’t easy to get everybody following the same idea. Between the three of us, we all have different ideas on life and how best to live it, so getting a cohesive track takes a lot of work. Glad you enjoyed it, means a lot coming from a talented motherfucker like yourself!
