“Bad Guys” is the second single by Portuguese recording artist Tahlia as she continues launching her music career in the United States following her 2024 debut English-language release ‘Sun-Kissed’. Her debut single charted at number two and immediately garnered some buzz for the artist as she works hard to make a name in the music industry. She has since continued to write and record music ahead of her debut release and ‘Bad Guys’ see’s fans get another taste of what Tahlia has to offer as a musician. Initially signing with Studio60 Records, she quickly moved across to subsidiary label Royale Vices & Virtues INC which is a label that focusses on launching the next generation of superstars, preferring to sign undiscovered talent and help them launch their careers. Tahlia finds herself finally following up on her debut single almost seven months following her previous effort, the time between releases being used to focus on working in the recording studio on her first ever English-language debut album, having previously released albums in her Portuguese native tongue.
Tahlia first performed the song during Bring the Heat Music Festival 2023 on 14 June, 2023 almost two years before the actual release. Tahlia later confirmed that the track was one of the first written after her signing to Studio60 Records,
“Sun-Kissed and Bad Guys were some of the first songs I wrote with Abella Diaz after I came over to the United States. She helped a lot with writing these songs because my English wasn’t so good when I first came over here. I had some cool songs sent over to me also, but I love the opportunity to write my own music too. So I’m so happy that my first two English singles are ones that I’ve co-written. It makes me proud to know the progress that I’ve made and it takes a lot of time to learn to write and sing in a completely different language. I like to see Sun-Kissed and Bad Guys in the same way. It feels so right that they were my first two releases.”The songs lyrical content see’s Tahlia admitting that she always goes with lust ahead of love when seeking out a companion and thus always finds herself drawn to bad guys or people that have that feeling of danger in them. Likening her preference to men with more of an edge to an addiction of sorts. Her vocal delivery sees her sing with a sultry wistful tone throughout the songs verse and bridge before singing in a higher register falsetto during the songs chorus which really showcases her vocal range and ability to hit those higher registers when required. The tracks production has a strong Latin flair, with electronic elements and upbeat rhythmic cadence throughout giving the song a pulsating summer anthem sort of energy within the track.
The track was written in the summer of 2023 during some of Tahlia’s first songwriting sessions with Abella Diaz. The pair worked together on the songs lyrics while longtime friend and collaborator Miguel Avilá delivered the music for the track and the production of the track as a whole. It was recorded at Studio 60 Recording Studios in West Hollywood, California between May and July 2024 as part of the recording sessions for her eventual debut album. The track is set to be released on April 17, 2025 as a CD Single, Digital Download, 12” Single and available to Weekly Airplay and Worldwide Streaming via Royale Vices & Virtues INC.
Bad Guys(w. Abella Diaz, Tahlia Amorim-Coelho
p. Miguel Avilá) “Oh my god, here I go again
I’m always out here favouring lust
I know how to pick em’
Every guy I fuck with gets me fucked up
My addiction, I just can’t quit em’
Feels like endorphin chemicals sent directly into my veins
Given the choice, in my mind
I always go for the high every single time
I’m drawn to the danger
Drawn to the flame
Drawn to the drug
Like chemicals in my veinsCaught in the thrill of the chase
Can’t help but fall for his wicked ways
He’s a bad guy, but I want him anyway
Drawn to the darkness, just can’t break awayI’m drawn to the danger
Drawn to the flame
Drawn to the drug
Like chemicals in my veinsI can’t resist the spark in his eyes
He's got that swagger that makes me fantasize
Breaking rules and leaving hearts in flames
He's the one that’s calling out my name
And I can’t resist it
I’m drawn to the friction
Skin on skin, writhing on silk sheets
White knuckle fever
No regrets
Just uncontrollable ecstasy
I’m drawn to the danger
Drawn to the flame
Drawn to the drug
Like chemicals in my veinsCaught in the thrill of the chase
Can’t help but fall for his wicked ways
He’s a bad guy, but I want him anyway
Drawn to the darkness, just can’t break awayRodando en la oscuridad
Deseos más profundos encendidos
Me haces jugar con fuego y me gusta
Rodando en la oscuridad
Deseos más profundos encendidos
Me haces gritar de placer, simplemente no puedo luchar contra elloI’m drawn to the danger
Drawn to the flame
Drawn to the drug
Like chemicals in my veins”
