I hear you on that one dude! Was gutted on Wednesday night, but I think the Hawks were just better on the night. The forechecking in the first two periods especially from Toews, Hosa and Sharp was just too good. (although that cunt should not have won the Conn Smythe, no goals in the final...WTF?)
I think what really lost it for us was game 5 though. Pronger was really not at the races and let that Byfuglien get the better of him too often (Pronger on a minus 5 is just unheard of). Also, Laviolette should have changed to a shorter bench sooner. I don't think that Betts, Krajicek and Bartulis are good enough. Asham some times, but not enough, same goes for Carcillo, JVR and Laperierre.
I think also the first line had to show up, and they didn't. Gagne - not bad, Carter - Fail, Richards - fail
laid it all on the second and third lines, and whilst Giroux, Briere and Leino were fantastic, they need backup from what is supposed to be the scoring line. Finally of course, I'm reluctant to criticise after his heroics in the Bruins and Habs series, but Michael Leighton made some big errors. Goal 2 on Wed and the goal Eager scored in game two spring to mind clearest.
However, it was a fantastic season for the guys all round, and if he can hang on to the core and build on it, then you never know...
