I'm at the beach :)

I watched the pilot and I couldn't get too far into it.

It has always been a dream of mine, as a professional writer, to take my love of the written word to the next level and write a novel. Last night I literally dreamt up what I think is the perfect ploy for my first novel, almost in full. I am about to start having a go at writing a first draft. Rather excited and optimistic now that I've written out my full plan of action and my plot, theme, characters etc.

I've had a bunch of half-ideas for novels rattling around in my head for years and years. At least one of them has been in there bouncing around ten years now, and that's bad. With NANOWRIMO coming up, I'm going to finally try and nail that one onto the page, even if it turns out to be a bunch of crap.

I've written various series of short stories over my time, one of which was so deep in character and plot that a high school teacher accused me of plagiarising. This is my first attempt at writing a full length novel however.

Oh yeah, I'm fully expecting it to take a long while. I intend to write something quality, and it may well take me years to complete. I won't be a James Patterson still three books a year chump. Plus, with writing news all day at work, I often get home and think that I can't be bothered writing more that night. So it may well take bloody ages.

Earlier today I started coughing so hard I puked. It's not the first time it happens for the past weeks, I may have pneumonia and that'll make me miss Pantanal next week :((((

How much creative control did the Doctors actually assert over Bioware games? It's hard to say exactly what direction Dragon Age 3 will go in, but given the (slightly over-reactionary, but valid) response to 2, EA knows they're just going to alienate people more if they head too far in that direction.

Of course I'm still really bitter about what happened when EA fully absorbed Bullfrog not too long after Peter Molyneux departed, and it's plenty possible that could happen here. Let's hope not though.

ahhh i love jade empire as well... no idea why it wasn't more popular!

Dragon Age origins was ok, but i didn't like the player limitations, ie you could be this person or this person.... but not a mix of the two... apart from that, crackin ganme and the second one did just spit down on it.... unless all it was doing was setting up an epic third game.
and while bullfrog was swallowed up, look what molyneux went on to do.... Fable (i love fable)
i still think baulders gate needs another sequel.... fuck me i love baulders gate..

I haven't played 2, and I don't know if there are Game Informers in the UK (I know Edge is sorta big down though) but the Game Informer cover story for Origins hyped that game like there was no tomorrow. It was telling me that depending on the decisions you made on the night you become a Grey Warden (after Loghain does that thing and so on), you'd get dedicated followers later on and rivals as well. So when I popped in the disc and got all the way to the final dungeon (if you could call it that) I was disappointed in that feature being left out. The supporting cast wasn't as rich as KOTOR's, or hell even a godamn JRPG. I didn't really care all that much about Alistair because he went from wise-cracking fun to douche way too quickly. Only characters I really enjoyed were the Handmaiden and the Quarian.

Now that I think about it, I didn't really enjoy Skyrim either as the story fell a bit flat for me. Last Western RPG that really roped me in story-wise was probably Dwarf Fortress or something, but only because you could form your own story and so on.

Oh yeah, and strange enough I enjoyed Fable III totally, the entirety of the Steampunk artstyle, the control scheme and even the story.
