Read the title. :P

Which Welsh band do you prefer?

I prefer LP, loads of people may disagree though.

Best Welsh bands = Manics & Catatonia. Though Stereophonics do have a few good songs. Lostprophets I've never really bothered to listen to.

Amusingly, and I regard myself as fan of the Manics, but you haven't listed a song I like. It probably won't surprise to hear that I love Generation Terrorists, as well as their early stuff like the The Theme From M*A*S*H (Suicide Is Painless) cover & Motown Junk, but actually my favourite record is The Holy Bible. I find it a very emotional album to sit and listen to, I mean it really makes you empathise with the pain in the music. One of my favourite records actually. It wouldn't be going too far to say that I adore The Holy Bible.

*swoon*

obviously the manics are the best Welsh band ever as well as one of the best UK bands ever..... simples.

and yes the Holy Bible is the best of the best.... Such a brilliant record with no faults, very personal and honest and emotional..... But could that simply be because it was Richey Edwards last album with the band? Thus loading it with extra connitations...

I like both, but Lostprophets are way, way better. They've been fantastic each time I've seen them live, getting better and better each time I see them and The Fake Sound of Progress is one of my favourite albums EVER, so it's kind of annoying people think Start Something is their first as they're missing out on so much!!

Songs that, for me, sum up just how great the band are, are songs like 'Shinobi v Dragon Ninja', 'The Fake Sound of Progress', 'The Handsome Life of Swing', 'Burn Burn', 'To Hell We Ride' and, although it was the weakest album, I actually do have a guilty pleasure for songs such as 'Everyday Combat', 'A Town Called Hypocrisy' and 'Can't Catch Tomorrow' from the Liberation Transmission album.

I'm very happy that the last time I saw them perform, Ian said their next album is going back to the heavier sound, and the song they played sounded great :)

I dunno. I mean the album they put out this year is all lyrics written by Richie before he vanished, but frankly it's not connected with me at all. I do think that it's simply because of the power of the songs, Holy Bible really was a band at their peak in my eyes.

oh i agree.... I think the Holy Bible is one of the best albums ever made.... ever.

But i also think its loaded with extra feelings simply because it was the last album richie was directly involved with, in a way is a long beautiful suicide note. (if you believe he is actually dead and didn't just disappear).

and now im going to go to work and listen tot he manics all day...

edit: UK mix, of course. accept no substitutes.
