I'm pretty new to the genre, so basically any recommendations on good blues musicians? I'm trying to expand my musical appreciacition on here and it's helped a LOT. I now know so many more bands and artists than I did before, and being on here has even forced me to listen to classical which I never thought I'd do and I do actually quite like a lot of it.
So yes, recommendations? BB King is an obvious one, but any slightly more obscure? |

Howlin' Wolf
Howlin' Wolf is the fucking man. Anyone who asks me about the blues gets told about Howlin' Wolf.
I'd also say Robert Johnson, you can likely get his complete discography for under a tenner and it's just an important collection of songs really. John Lee Hooker is another of those "must hear" bluesmen.
Those three should do to start you off I'd say. |

Too much leather chair is unsightly and greatly increases your risk of leather-smell. |

I like the blues, but not enough to actually listen to it. When I listen to the blues I have very little emotional attachment to it, so as much as it's pleasant and enjoyable, there's very little for me to sink my teeth into. |

Yeah, I agree with that, more or less. As a genre, I respect it and it's great fun to sit and play some blues every now and then! |

Rory Gallagher, Robert Johnson, TEN YEARS AFTER, early ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND (although they weren't a pure blues band. Great nonetheless), Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lee Hooker, early FLEETWOOD MAC, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, CANNED HEAT etc. etc.
