what are peoples opinions on his arrest after 30 years for raping a 13 year old girl... And more importantly what are people opinions and thoughts on the "great and good" of Hollywood coming out in his deffence.
I hate it when people see me at the supermarket and they are like:
Hey, what are you doing here?
and im just like:
Oh you know, hunting elephants

Well...he has committed an offence, a serious one (I think the charges involved are unlawful sex with a minor, rape, sodomy...I've only just read the whole thing), so I guess he should face the music. From what I understand the woman who was involved does not want charges to be laid.

but it doesn;t matter that she was consenting... she was 13.....

it really is interesting to me that in this day and age the worst possible thing to be is a peadophile.... And yet there are so many people coming out in his deffence.

Yes, the initial outrage that anyone could actually dare arrest Roman Polanski was slightly bemusing. He fucked a kid. If he didn't then why the hell does he not go to America and appeal his conviction? Stupid.

exactly... people appear to forget he raped a 13 year old girl... was convicted and then fled the country 30 years ago...
just because it was 30 years ago does not stop him from being guilty about it. Do people get annoyed that Pinochet was arrested in London for war crimes etc years after it happend.... Or Saddam Hussein, or Ronnie Biggs?
but for some reason there appears to be a culture in America that... he is famous so can't be guilty and go to prison for a serious crime..

Well, outside of Hollywood (who are biased because I'd assume he knows alot of the folk who are backing him) it's not really America which is defending him, it's France. Or at least it was, that seems to have died down a little.

that was sarkozy commenting on the timing of the arrest rather than france as a whole i believe (but could be wrong).

Get a rope, a mob and hang 'em from a tree.

I did like some of his movies though. The Ninth Gate, Rosemary's Baby and The Pianist are classics.

Well, obviously I'm not expecting it to happen any time soon, just that's what should happen.

I agree - if the girl wasn't of the age of consent, then it cannot be consensual in the eyes of the law.

Ah, okay, you're taking this a little bit too far, I didn't mean it whole heartedly but still who knows how many other children he's done it to. Plus, the girl was 13, that's practically ruined her childhood most likely, I don't think it was consentual...

I believe rapists and paedophiles and murderers should be killed, yes, in an ideal situation where we could guarentte that their guilty (which, yes I know is never going to happen). But still he should be locked up for a long time. Sometimes you have to make examples of people instead of pussy footing around it.

I believe there is no moral justification for murder. It's a kind of black and white issue really. Anybody who wants to murder is a morally bankrupt person. This includes state endorsed murder

I support the Death Penalty if anyone who kills someone must be killed, meaning that the person who pulls the switch on the chair, must themselves be executed, and the person who does that must be executed. Repeat ad infinitum.

interestingly the girl herself has said he should not have been arrested and does not want to see him go to jail...

personally i agree, he should be convicted, she was 13 and had no idea what was really being done to her, i just felt the need to respond to such a hyperbolic statement...
