Gemma Maddison was warned by doctors this week that she may have to stop performing with her rock band Live Youth - or risk being confined to a wheelchair.
The 20 year old star suffered an injury to her back a few days ago, while on honeymoon with new husband Billy Maddison, resulting in one of her vertebrae becoming crushed, leaving the singer in "agonising pain".

"Yes, Gemma has suffered a severe back injury while on holiday," Dean Keller told us, "but as of yet there is no talk that she will definitely have to give up performing with us. She saw the doctors a few days ago and was told that they can operate, but there are risks involved which could mean she would have to stop performing - or at least stop giving such intense, high energy performances. If they don't operate, however, Gemma will have to give up as she would be in too much pain, and the risk of the problem getting worse would be high. So far, Gemma's future with the band is unsure, but we would tell all of our fans not to worry - Gemma is headstrong and determined, so this will definitely not get the better of her."

Gemma is said to be devastated by the news, but is thought to be having the surgery sometime in the coming weeks.

Gemma: Thanks :( I hope so, too!! If I can't perform, I cant do anything. It's the only thing I do well :'( I don't even wanna have the surgery cos anything could go wrong, but Billy is making me!! "Better quality of life, blah blah blah"... sucks!!

Gemma .... you (probably) won't like this, but you need to listen to Billy.
Risks are part of life, and it's better for you, in the long run, to take that risk and give yourself a chance at doing what you love again. Don't waste it.
