Wolfmother new album Cosmic Egg is fantastic! Their debut album is great but this surpasses it. Its a mixture of Zeppelin, T-Rex, and something new! I love this gusy!

I hate Wolfmother. Ok...hate is a rather strong word....dislike would be better. I had Rage on this morning and sure enough they were on...dont know what the song was titled. I'll pass. Edited by user 17 October 2009 12:24:06(UTC)

I dont mind Zeppelin, though I wont go out of my way to listen to them...but to me, listening to that song I heard this morning, its sounds a lot like their previous stuff. |

I don't like Zeppelin or AC/DC or any of these other bands Wolfmother apes, but I like Wolfmother even less for essentially being revivalists, living in the past instead of the future, regressing the form to a simpler time, and glorifying the whole rock-star image of acting like intolerable dicks and getting away with it because "that's just rock-and-roll". I like some aspects of rock music, but this band strike me as one who might shout "Are you ready to rock?!" which is a whole it's-party-time concept I find embarrassing and laughable. I like rock music once you strip away the rock star part. I want a guy to go on stage, say something impenetrably weird that is greeted with mild laughter or confused silence, and then launch into a song to which the audience stands around semi-catatonic absorbing, because that's the kind of guy I am. Wolfmother, no thanks. Oh, and as a side note, here's an amusing Youtube occurance. A Mike Patton interview posted by a Wolfmother fan:

No matter how many time I see that video I can't help but laugh at the reaction on Mike's face, shock combined with outrage & disgust, it's just brilliant.
As for Wolfmother themselves, well I listened to a couple of tracks on the myspace before getting bored. Just not very exciting. I don't mind their first album, there's a couple of songs that are quite good (well, Woman & Apple Tree) but it's generally just a blancmange of dull. |
