This is the funniest thing since the Black Taco: "LOS ANGELES (Oct. 17) - A Southern California immigrant rights group on Friday asked Target stores and a costume company to stop selling a Halloween "illegal alien" costume it said is offensive to immigrants.
The costume features the mask of an alien with a green card and an orange jumpsuit with "illegal alien" written across the front.

The world's gone fucking mental.
To be honest, if you read into it it does make a mockery of what is a horrible trade and usually costs lives and often actually causes a lot of pain and suffering to those trying to illegally immigrate.
But.
It's a halloween costume. Get a life. I mean who the hell sets out as a kid with the job aspiration of wanting to be the Executive Director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles? He's obviously not doing a very good fucking job because people are still being beaten and treated like shit in an attempt to illegally immigrate. |

Illegal Alien? That's a great pun. Well, it's an okay pun. If anyone is offended, perhaps somebody should explain to them the concept of comedy.
Not to be one of those "political correctness gone mad" assholes, but this seems about as offensive as those shitty old cannabis-worshipping posters you got in high street stores with an alien in a tie-dye shirt saying "Take me to your dealer." |

Fuck political correctness anyway. At uni that's all intellectuals can talk about, how it's wrong to call nonwhites "colored people", and black Americans should be called "African Americans" instead of blacks and Indians "Native Americans".

To be fair, American Indians are not Indian. They're American. As for African Americans, that term seems stupid unless you're maybe only a couple of generations removed from actual Africans. America is weird because people will come out and say "I'm Irish" when what they mean is their Grandparents were Irish. In the UK that has become xenophobia, with Asians being called Pakis and being told to go home even though they were born here, and their parents are from Bangladesh or wherever. I'm all for political correctness in the sense that people's colour, nationality, or whatever, shouldn't define a person. Call it racial sensitivity or something. Same reason I don't walk into a church on Sunday and start talking about how I think Christianity is stupid when everyone is silent for prayer. |
