To be fair, parents don't know shit about raising kids. It's not like there's an instruction manual.

There is the Bible, I'm sure there is something in there about parenting. Like there was that one part where Lot's daughters got Lot drunk so they could "lay" with him.. or um... wait, is that appropriate father-daughter activity?

As someone who likes to consider themselves fairly mature for my age, I think it can go both ways really. Some kids are immature brats, and some kids are just as mature as the parents. I dont believe that it stems from the parents ALL the time either. You can so much for a kid, but eventually he is going to take his own path and make his own choices, no matter what you may have taught him, he will do what he wants and that may not always be the mature path. The person makes there own decisions, and the parent cant control their child's thoughts.

I also dont like the stereotype that says that all children of today are immature. While many of us are, I still think that there are a select few of us that have mindsets that surpass most adults in the world today, you just have to search through us to find them.

I wasn't entirely serious though.....

Thats true but alot of parenting is common sense, which seems to have dissappeared in alot of people...also there is a mindset of 'lets blame the teachers/government/army/football team' for badly behaved kids and those ill equipped for life as an adult, instead of looking in the home.

At the end of the day, everyone looks back on each generation of kids with rose tinted glasses...each one is worse than the last apparently. Rebellious kids is a modern phenomenon so it would seem...

Being rebellious is a matter of growing up. You don't know it, but you're testing the boundaries of what you can and can't do. Every teenager rebels, been that way for a very long time, well over a century at least. Probably since kids stopped being forced to work

And don't forget, it's got good tips on discipline too! If your kid steps out of line, throw stones at them until they die.

The littlest kid was eating sand from the ground. The rest of the family was lock-eyed at the trains, not even noticing. Then the mom turned around to the little kid, who was right in front of her eating the sand, yet the mother said to her other child "Let's go over there. There's some more trains there." I tried to tell the mother, but she was too unattentative to hear me and was busy looking at the trains. It just made me mad inside. Another time, my father was swimming with my little brother in a pool. Another woman was with her little child. Then, she left the child in the pool to get a drink of water. The child was drowning and my father had to hold the other child up as well as my brother. Then, the woman came back and didn't even notice or mind.

This made me mad inside too. There may be no manual for parenting, no specific way to bring children up, but surely it's just plain common sense not to leave them like that?

I just find it quite strange that from the first sentence sharinganerror wrote, he was already wrong.

If the teenagers of today were so "stupid (academically)", why on earth are college and university attendance rates at an all time high? Sure, there's a recession on so jobs are hard to come by, but the fact remains that to gain entry to a university or college institution, a students grades need to be of a certain level.
Also, labelling "teenagers" is targetting everybody from the age of 13 - 19. Yes, many 14, 15 year olds may act in a selfish or "flash" way, but its because they are making the transition from childhood into adulthood, are trying to work out the boundaries and discover who they are. Everybody goes through a patch where they're less than perfect. It's growing up. You certainly can't lump most 18 and 19 year olds in with these kids. Note, I said "many" 14/15 year olds, not ALL. Most go through this transition without being a complete nightmare.

I think the entire post was pointless, ridiculously inaccurate and small minded. I know a lot of people in their 20s and 30s which can be/are just as immature and self centred as these "teens" you talk about, just like I know a lot of 17 year olds who are so mature and intelligent that they hang about with groups of older people and don't seem out of place.

So, again, what is the point of your post? Apart from mindless, ageist waffle?

PS. Sorry if I missed any points, but I stopped reading halfway through, due to fear that my braincells were actually melting.

I don't, but then I've read his previous posts.

Infact, I haven't read any more of this thread than his first sentence and a couple of posts on page 2 because the whole premise sounds fucking retarded.

no. Lot was wicked, and God punished him and the rest of Sodom and Gomorah. The bible actually has a lot of good verses. As the Bible tells us: "He who spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him correcteth him betimes" (Proverbs 13:24) and "Withhold not correction from a child: for if thou strike him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and deliver his soul from hell." (Proverbs 23:13-14)

There technically are many "manuals" for parenting, but it's made through experience and help from their own parents. But I suppose immaturity breeds immaturity.

Actually, I'm the only person in my family that your statement applies to, and you know what? I couldn't fucking care, you don't live my life and you already live a completely different one. So fuck off with personal attacks you self-absorbed prick.

I didn't mean it seriously, by the way.

But anyway, aside from Sharinganerrors lack of understanding of human beings, you do have a point that children are to greedy nowadays, but so is everyone. Adults are even more greedy, to be fair, and it IS all the parents' fault unless you really do get a little shit, but anyway the point remains the parents give the children the money, they give them the designer shirts, they give them the three holidays a year - its just like with fat kids.

If you don't give it to them, they wont use it. Unless they end up stealing from you, but if you raise them properly that wouldn't happen. And very rarely you do just get little shits in which case tough luck, some kids are just like that and they always will be like it.

Plus Raphaela why should we have something to fight for? Hell there are plenty of things to fight for - climate change, greedy bankers, stupid politicions, outrageous treatment of soldiers - the list goes on. The problem isn't that we don't have something to fight for it's that no one can be bothered.

That's just the kind of response I'd expect from one of those immature, up themselves, think they know it all and are the most important people in the world, spoilt teenagers you were talking about...

Although, I'll admit, that was a strong comeback. I just went and changed my whole opinion of my original post. In fact, I agree with everything you said in this thread, you must obviously be a genius of some kind. Yeah, seriously. I'm not being sarcastic at all...
