The small 5,000 people crowd all were curious of who this band was.A few of them had heard of the band in America and Canada but for the most part they were just waiting for the bigger band come on next.The Living Zombies were playing with 2 other bands and they were the middle band.Angela went to the microphone and simply said "We're The Living fucking Zombies, we're a punk band from Canada, and we honestly just wanna play so if you don't like us we don't give a fuck, and if you do, there's a guy giving out free demos from our new CD so you can hear some of the songs." A small portion of the crowd maybe 50 people cheered.After a pause with just guitar feedback, a short drum fill was played and Angie began playing the heavy riff intro to Their song "Need my Fix". The song is fast and heavy with a few short guitar fills and really heavy bass.It contains really suggestive lyrics such as "I don't mind being you're bitch as long as I can GET MY FIX.I NEED MY FIX and I'll fuck you for it too, I'll give you my body even though I don't know you" The song is about doing whatever needs to be done for heroin.The next song starts on a softer note with a nice guitar arpeggio for about 30 seconds until Angie's distorted guitar comes in.The heavy riff is very slow, easily compared to Nirvana or another grunge contemporary.Angie is still the main singer as with most songs but Chris does sing a small part and they also have a harmony together.The second half of the song is mid tempo and has sad lyrics about drugs and abuse from Angie.The bridge and final part of the song are fast with Angela talking so fast you can't tell what she's saying.The song ends with a nice arpeggio from Chris again over a nice bass lick from John.Angela went to the mic. "I forgot to say, that song is called living like me, and this next one is LIVING ZOMBIE!"
The crowd of fans is slowly getting bigger with a few hundred cheering.The song is rather gothy, sounding like The Cure with a distorted guitar coming in the chorus. The chorus is "Without you, I can't be me, I'm a Zombie,Zombie,Zombie."This song was the fan favorite and at the end everyone was cheering or clapping with most of the men in the audience looking like they were ready to pounce on Angie.After some guitar/bass wankery from Chris and John Angie went to the mike again."We can only play a few more songs but this one all the men might like.It's called I hate me but I love you."In this song Angie doesn't play guitar she only sings while trying to look sexy which apparently works.The song seems like she's talking about a man but she's actually talking about heroin which she was indeed in love with.The song had a big response nonetheless and the band was happy about that.The next song called breathe in me also had a Gothic feel and a powerful chorus from Angie.The lyrics are "Breathe in me, you're the air I need.Watch me as I fall,finally I'm free.Breathe in me, show me that you care, breathe in me,you're my only air" this song actually is about a person, Jimmy Him to be exact. After the song Angie went to the mike. "That one was about my fucking ex-boyfriend.I won't say who he is but let's just say he was quite the Nimrod." The crowd laughed."This is gonna be our last song, it's called Shotguns and Syringes!" The song started fast with fierce vocals from Chris and Angie going back and forth with Angie letting put a primal scream. The song features a decent guitar solo with lots of nice drum grooves and in overall it was like Pearl Jam+Black Sabbath+Joan Jett. This song got the audience moshing and sweating and at the end Angie dived into the crowd, then got felt up by some guy and ended up kicking his ass, she had to be dragged out the venue and had left a stilleto which she tried to stab the guy with.Pics:  Setlist: Need My Fix Living Like Me Living Zombie I Hate Me but I love You Breathe in Me Shotguns and Syringes |
