Lately I've been very interested in cell phones. I'm a proud owner of the LG Tritan (online picture below). Had it for about a month now.

UserPostedImage

My very first phone was the LG Rumor. My parents gave me it for christmas of '07. It was considered a pretty cool and new phone, pretty much right before the whole craze over touchscreen phones came along.

UserPostedImage

Then, after 18 months, in June this year, i switched over to the Motorola side, and it was a great mistake. The phone looked kinda cool. Motorola Evoke, it was a fine phone, it came out a few days before I got it in the US infact, but like most motorola phones I've seen, the format is too small and too, how can I describe it. Too "cute"? It looked nice, but was terrible in use.

UserPostedImage

And then, my phone company saved me. US Cellular had a sale where you can switch your phone that you'll get service on (cuz you can still keep your old one, but it won't be in use) for a new one FREE! So, duh. I changed it. I still have the Evoke incase the tritan breaks, but hopefully that won't happen. I have my dream phone. It features a wide touchscreen screen, a keyboard, internet connections, a little "mouse" for your internet, sound is incredible, what more can I say?

But, the touchscreen sucks at times, and the internet isn't necessarily the fastest, but it ain't that bad.

Overall, it's an incredible phone, and I'm interested in knowing what phones you all have.

Me personally I dont care much for mobiles and all its wizzbang gadgetry, its just something that is handy to have so my partner or other family can contact me in a hurry

This is my current phone...Sony Ericsson R306...its very basic in its applications, though it can connect to the net but at an expensive snails pace. The camera component is utter rubbish, not worth using. I bought it because it was cheap (and simple to use), cost around $100. Too scared to get anything fancier because I've murdered my previous two phones through my clumsiness.

UserPostedImage

Motorolla's were my other phones...nothing wrong with them except when they get dunked in water through leaving them in your boardies when swimming or forgetting to button up your top pocket and it falls into a rubbish bin you were cleaning. Blerrrr.

My first phone was when I was starting my Freshman year and my parents got me a Sidekick...

UserPostedImage

But the reception was awful, and This was before I knew that it was the company you were on that was doing this, and not the phone itself, so I kept complaining and complaining until for my birthday my parents got me a Blackberry...

UserPostedImage

...which I ended up breaking 2 months after because my Dad ran it over after I dropped it. Then I went about 8 months without a phone and after that period, my parents decided that I needed some form of communication so they can know where I am, so they got me a crappy Samsung flip phone. I have no idea what it was, but it looked something like this:

UserPostedImage

That phone lasted for about 4 months, until Travis stepped on it and destroyed it. Then I decided that I hated cell phones because I had bad luck with them, and then I didn't get annother one until earlier this year, and got a Nokia X3:

UserPostedImage

And I kept it until summer of this year when I decided, "Yeah, I want a new phone, but I don't wanna get anything too fancy because I know if I do, it's gonna break." So, I got a Sony Ericcson, and that's the phone I have now.

UserPostedImage

So all in all, I've been through 4 phones.

The first phone my parents bought me was a really early, glittery Sagem that could phone and text, and that was about it. Second one was a Motorola V2288. All this time, I lusted after a Nokia 3210 so that I could play Snake and compare scores with the other girls. 3210s were THE thing to have back then, I was one of about two or three girls in my class without one. (My third phone was a 3310. By then I'd left school, was always around boys instead of girls, and didn't care about Snake.) After that, I had a Nokia a few steps up, nicknamed "The Swiss Army Phone" because of its brill yet easy-to-use capabilities. I can't remember what number it was, but it was my best phone so far.

This is my current phone, an O2 Xda. I've had this a year (in other words, it's completely out of date) and I still can't work half the apps on it. (:

I have a Motorola RAZR V3 and will have that until I get a free upgrade. I have an iPod touch and a laptop so I don't see the need for a phone that does all the extra stuff when I have two other devices already able to handle those functions.

Yeah, the general idea is that everything is going to converge into one device, but it seems like that one device will fall prey to jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none. My phone is a phone, my MP3 player is an MP3 player, my Camera is 7Megapixels, my portable games are actual proper games on the DS. I don't want one device that does everything. I only bother to carry my phone when I'm travelling. I don't want people to always be able to reach me. Which coincidentally is why only about five people in the world have my phone number.

Convergence is great in some areas, I love having my 360 as the only device I need in my living room, but with my phone its not as practical. I mean even if the newest smart phones were fantastic masters of everything being a cellphone still kills them in my book. I don't want to have a device that is tied to a payment plan. My iPod touch will surf the web without requiring a plan (of course I have to pay for home web access but that is becoming closer to being a given anymore). Basically because of the way cell phone contracts are structured and priced I would rather carry around 4 other devices to get the job done than pay an extra $80 a month for the Blackberry network and a data plan and this brand new phone that can do the same things.

that's a pretty good phone imo, in the sense that it ages well. like this one, which happened to be my first (2001, i think):

UserPostedImage

then sometime in 2003 i got this one, the 6600 classic. i dug it; it was the most high-tech model nokia had put out by then (it could record 13 seconds of video!!).

UserPostedImage

2006/early 2007-ish i lost that one after years of faithful service. this was the replacement - the motorola krzr. it was a piece of shit.

UserPostedImage

nowadays i rock a nokia n97 and i love it.

Ah this was it! Nokia 5140.

Best phone I've ever had. It has a torch, a compass and a thermometer (same stuff as my Swiss Army lighter, but meh, this is better because it has a phone attached - though less likely to kill people), all completely pointless bar the torch, but meh, I liked them. Best of all, when you drop this, it bounces. It's not easy to destroy, which is brilliant for a clumsy arse like myself. WAY better than the Xda, which I'm surprised I haven't broken yet.

And this was my first 'un -

Sadly, all that glitters is not gold. Despite its classic style (not quite "Zack Morris" classic - DAMN I want that mobile, it'd be so ridiculously impractical! - but anything pre-2000 with an aerial and the size of at least half a brick is "classic" in terms of mobiles), you can't give 'em away. Aww. Not that I would, but it's a great phone. You can use it to phone people and send text messages. That's all. No "there's an app for that" crapola, when you spend a few grand on a phone with a ton of applications you won't use, don't know how to use, and aren't actually all that bothered about.

I lost it over 2 1/2 years ago. If I felt the need for a new one I could have gotten one by now. And lost it. And replaced it again.
