Okay, seeing as I'm going for another Mass Effect SESH before I get the new one, I thought this game deserved a thread for it :)

I am in love with it, and I know a few others on here are too. I think it's brilliant, one of the best games I've played in a long time. And on my luuuurvley HD telly and my luuuuuuurvley 360 it isn't too shabby lookin' either, I just wish there was some possible form of multiplayer :( What'd be awesome is if in the next one you could fly around in spaceships and have huuuge battles and stuffs which would all incorporate multiplayer into it.

But anyhoo, my ladies called Sarah and she's a super kinky Spacer-Sole-Survivin' Infiltrator. I love being a complete asshole in this game, but I've never completed it with a woman so I might do it different this time.

I hate the idea that every game needs multiplayer these days. Mass Effect is fantastic as a single player game and I would hate any form of multiplayer. Why can't a 20-30 hour (minimum) quest be enough for your $60 when you pay like $10 for a two hour movie? Some games do benefit from multiplayer but it shouldn't be a requirement. Half-Life 2 was phenomenal and didn't need multiplayer (I never touched HL2:DM). Fallout 3 was great without needing multiplayer. Mass Effect is the same way.

Ok rant is finished.

As far as a new playthrough:

I finished my second playthrough not to long ago. I did a male Earthborn-Ruthless-Soldier (Tim Shephard, a renegade) then a male Spacer-Sole Survivor-Infiltrator (Logan Shephard, paragon overall but I dealt with my crew and Cpt. Anderson in a nice way all the time and dealt with the Council, the ambassador, and almost everyone else as a jerk, my idea for Logan was that he really cared for his crew but didn't give a shit about the government's red tape and bureaucracy and generally liked helping those in real need so he would be nice when the guy needed his wife's body back but a jerk when people needed trivial things) for my second game. Over holiday break I plan on starting a female Colonist-War Hero-Adept as I have never played a biotic class or woman. For my party; in my first play through I used Wrex and Garrus and then on my second I used Ashley and Wrex. Wrex always has the best lines in the game so I find it really hard to leave him on the Normandy.

Another question; did anyone here get Pinnacle Station DLC and if so how was it? I went in a few weeks ago and traded in my Mass Effect for Mass Effect Platinum Hits because it comes with Bring Down the Sky and I liked the way they did that quest, much more robust than the usual side quests.

Great game. However, I only ever rented it, so I never played it more than once. Got a level 50 Infiltrator and beat the game, that was it.

Could you please not come in here and waste space. If video games aren't your cup of tea that is fine but for many on this board we play and enjoy them and would like to discuss them. If you had something to say about the game that is one thing, but I doubt you know anything about this game except for the controversy it caused (which was blown out of proportion).

Thank you

I'm towards the end of my first playthrough, but I don't really play through games like that multiple times, instead I just try and do everything I can in one playthrough. So I did all the side missions I could find, long before most of the story missions.

Anyway, my dude is Paul Sheppard, an Infiltrator, full-paragon.

Looking forward to ME2.

I did all the side quests but I wanted to make some different choices and experience the game as a girl. The biggest reason I replayed though is because of the different political situations that can be set up in ME2 based on how you finish the game. I would like to experience a couple of those.

Um excuse I have freedom of expression about the game , just like someone has freedom of expression about Britney Spears music.

The game is boring, awful and not worth the money in my opinion. Its a like a rip off in my opinion.
I forgot to mention the graphics suck on the Xbox 360.

Have you played it from start to finish? If not you really aren't qualified to make a statement about it. I asked you politely to just leave this alone since you won't actually add anything to this discussion. If you are still going to post in this topic I can't actually stop you, but I was simply asking that you respect our discussion.

Why is there always some bullshit going on.

I wasn't yawning at the thread, I yawned at the game. I personally think is boring, graphics aren't all that on the X-box 360 it is unoriginal and the storyline isn't all that. Its my opinion and I don't see how is that disrespecting your discussion.

You haven't supported any of your positions, that is the problem. Why is the storyline poor? What games outdo it graphically? What makes it unoriginal?

And while you may not have been yawning at the thread that is what it looked like. That is what I was calling disrespectful.

Well it is basically like a Star Wars rip-off in my opinion.

Anyway, I'm not going to get deep into to it. This is a discussion not a debate. I just posted what I thought of the game and I have the right to do that. If you felt disrespected that's your problem.

Discussion means an exchange of ideas and I am curious as to why you hold those views. As for the Star Wars thing, well if you were going to make any comparisons to any other sci-fi franchises Star Wars isn't the right one. Mass Effect is a hard sci-fi universe, more similar to the Star Trek world than the more fantastic Star Wars. Everything in Mass Effect has some explanation behind it, you can learn how all the tech works, the culture and politics of all the races, and all the history. Star Wars doesn't give that same level of detail on the actual mechanics of the universe.

I didn't mean it had to have multiplayer, just saying it would be pretty cool if it did and would add more hours to it which is good, because as many options there are when you play the game it gets boring at parts and it would be nice to have some mindless plot-less shot em up action against real people.

And also about the Star Wars things that's the most crazy thing I've ever heard. How the hell can you possibly compare the two :L Sure, they're set in the future with loadsa aliens. WOWZA. The two have no simularities aside from the fact they're Sci-Fi. Star Wars is basically about one person how he goes from being a beacon of hope for the galaxies to being an evil murdering psychopath (again, BASICALLY.) Whereas Mass Effect's about a hyper-advanced alien/robot thingy that comes to destroy the Galaxy. Basically.

You obviously no nothing about the game.

I know a whole lot about the game. Just because I said I don't play video games, doesn't mean I have never played video games. Like I said I lost my interest this year. All games in my opinion lack originality. The next generation I'm looking forward to is actual 3-D live simulation.

Okay, would you like to explain what choice you make at the end of the game, and how it affects the council?

Mass Effect is more Star Trek than Star Wars, and just as much Babylon 5 and Aliens actually.

Also, graphics suck? What in the name of Holy Fuck are you talking about? It was and remains one of the best looking games on the console.

I said the Star Trek thing as well a bit earlier. Actually I think you first brought up the point that ME is a hard sci-fi universe. The game makes sure to give an explanation (using the games science) to every piece of tech as well as giving history, culture, political, and military knowledge on all of the races.

The aesthetic really is quite unusual, because it takes the hard sci-fi route as far as technology and action and stuff, but the storytelling is more classical, and the design of ships and stuff is very clean and grandiose.

During the last battle scene I seem to remember some of the human ships looking a little more worn down or less grandiose (similar to the rebellion ships in Star Wars). The biggest draw to me with Mass Effect eventually became the Codex. I loved having that kind of universe be fully realized. I know how ships propel themselves, why the guns don't need ammo, and so forth.
