QuestionStart a new country, what ideas and laws would you start it out with? AnswerI would make two national laws: 1. No interfering with the states laws. 2. No harm to any humans (fighting, murder, etc.) (including no slavery) I would also make a constitution with laws that included laws that were voted on by the states' Leaders. The idea of the country would be to give most, almost all power to the states. The nation would be sort of like my NS Nation "Jufonce". |

Based on our political system, I'd do something like:
A congressman wants to approve a law.
Then the mayors of the congressman's state vote, if they approve, the governators of each state would vote and if they also approve, the people would vote.
If the people also agree, the president then puts the law into action.
Kind of complicated and utopic, but it'd be good.
Other than that, communism. |

In my world, I'd do away with states and make it more centrally controlled. A bit of uniformity say in health care and education would go along way. Say in Australias case, States have shown themselves completely clueless on how to provide adequate and effective health care and other services. That's not to say a Federal government on its own would be any better but thats what it would be like in my nation. |

Hmmm.
See, this is hard. For a start, I'm not sure that the nation state is a good thing. Nationalism is about splitting ourselves off from each other, focusing on the differences. I'm much of an internationalist: we're all human beings, capable of rational thought.
It would be a loose confederation of local communities which would have power on almost everything. The only real "laws" would be that of a common foreign & defence policies, and that blatant profiteering at the expense of other peoples well-being would be a serious crime.
It woud be a lovely wee utopia. |
