I would love to run it again, though I would like help with thinking up more roleplay challenges? Sort of different themes for later rounds, etc., to make it a bit more interesting than just doing a bigger/better show each time.
For those who don't know. The DTBOTB judging system is a public vote, but the only people who may vote are those taking part. I start, usually, with four randomly chosen groups of four (if I have 16 signups, the usual number - may be more or less depending on interest, as long as it's a multiple of four), and everyone would rate the roleplays from best to worst. They'd write the groups out, in the thread for the round, like this - Uberbrillnosity +2 Arsekickers +1 Mediocrity -1 Crapola -2
Sexaaay +2 Rathergood +1 Fuckbuckets -1 Tosspots Who Didn't Even Bother To Roleplay -2
.... and so on. (And yes, you can be shameless and vote yourself top, if you really think you were the best. Or even if you didn't and just want to stay in the game - you could even vote tactically and vote the best as the worst to eliminate the competition.) I add up these points values, and the lowest in each group leaves the competition. As the rounds go on, the stakes get higher, eg. in the first round you can gain or lose 1 or 2 points, in the second you can gain or lose 2 or 5, and so on.
When we get to the final, the vote goes public to everyone on the board. (I might put a poll up for this, because polls IP-check.) I loved the second one when it was Elliot vs. Sav vs. Mouj vs. me in the end (Elliot won, and a well-deserved win at that), the talk on the thread got REALLY competitive between Lino and the M/M team, because the final two were an Eventual band and a Midnight/Mythic band. And best of all, there were loads of votes, the roleplay board really got interested and pulled together.
So anyway, that's enough about that. If we get a fair amount of signups, and some good ideas for challenges, I'll definitely go for it. |
