Hey Cristina, how are you doing?
Cristina: Hey, I’m doing fine. I was feeling a little bit ill last night but I seem to be fine today.

You’ve recently been signed by Junction Records as a singer, why did you decide to go into the music industry?
Cristina: I’ve always wanted to record a couple of albums, obviously I’m not known as a signer, I’m kind of known as an actress but this is something I’ve wanted to do for a while now and the timing just seemed right, I did record a song for the soundtrack of Home Sweet Home so I do have some sort of experience.

How did you manage to get signed by Junction Records?
Cristina: Well I’m friends with Juliette Moore and she’s engaged to Max Armstrong who obviously is the owner of Junction Records so that helped, but last week they hired Jake Wilson who I’m also close friends with so he sent the demo to Max and I got a phone call on Sunday evening and on Monday morning we had agreed a deal, so that’s it really.

How long will you be concentrating on your music career?
Cristina: I’m not sure how long, I’m writing my debut album and hopefully I can get that recorded in September maybe. I’ll be touring in support of the album and we’ll see what happens after that.

So have you finished with your acting career?
Cristina: No not at all. This was a huge risk for me to take time away from acting and try out this different path but I’ve not finished acting, If I find out about a role which interests me then I’ll go and audition for it just like I always have but I’ll probably not be auditioning for a year or so.

How would you describe your childhood?
Cristina: It was very normal really. I had an older brother and an older sister and we’re pretty close. My mom and dad worked hard to give us the best opportunity in life. We weren’t rich by any means but we could afford some luxury’s every now and then. It was all pretty basic.

Were you popular growing up?
Cristina: I wouldn’t say I was the most popular in school but I wasn’t unpopular either. I had a group of close friends who I still stay in touch with now. In high school I became a little bit more popular and I started sort of coming out of my shell a little bit more and it really helped with confidence because before high school I was only really comfortable talking to the people I had known since I was about 6. But I enjoyed high school a lot.

What kind of person would you say you are now?
Cristina: I don’t really know. I see myself as a fun caring person who’s just looking for what every 19 year old is looking for. My friends and family are the most important people in my life and I hope that’s the way it will always be. I’m single at the moment and I’m really happy, I don’t really get lonely because I still have that close group of friends I’ve known since I was about Six or Seven so they know me enough to know when I may be feeling down.

Are you worried about failing in your music career attempt?
Cristina: I don’t want to fail, who does? I’m just gonna give it everything I can and hopefully people will like it.

Do you feel you have a commercial enough sound?
Cristina: I wouldn’t know how to describe my singing voice. I don’t feel it matters how commercial you are, if the music’s good people will buy it.

What kind of music do you listen to?
Cristina: All different kinds of music. I do listen to pop music sometimes people like Miss Vanity and Moquel and people like that. But I also like people like Ryan Ross, because he doesn’t really have one particular genre. I also like to discover new indie bands and singer-songwriters and I kind of force them onto my friends but they usually like it anyway.

What’s your opinions on the state of pop music?
Cristina: Well I don’t really think I’m in a position to judge it because I’ve not really got any music credentials yet. But I think it’s doing ok at the moment. I think it’s been stronger in the past of course and I think there’s a lot of similar artists. I don’t think there’s a lot of variety at the moment, for example if you put the radio on and there’s a pop song on there it could be by anyone in the charts because a lot of singers have the same sound as each other so it’s not very distinctive but all in all I wouldn’t say pop music is at it’s worst at the moment.
