Q: Good Morning Max How’s It Going?
Max: Yeah everything’s good at the moment, I’ve got a few things to do in the next few days, interviews, rehearsals and stuff like that, so I‘m gonna be a bit busy.

Q: Do you prefer to be busy rather than sitting at home doing nothing?
Max: Totally, Anyone who knows me knows that I hate doing nothing, it kills me. I kind of feel sorry for people who have retired because all of that spare time would be like hell to me. I prefer working, it gives me something to do, something to get up in the morning for. I love my family so much but you’ve gotta have your own thing going on.

Q: So what news can you tell us about yourself?
Max: I’ve got 5 gigs in New York starting on May 15th. I’m releasing a single on Thursday. It’s something new which I’ve wanted to try for a couple of months now and I’m finally gonna give it a go.

Q: What exactly is something new?
Max: In the past I’ve released albums the normal way, it’s a pretty boring system so I’ve decided to release Ten singles randomly throughout the year and then once all of those singles have been released I will then release the album with those ten songs on it. I know singles are really starting to take over from full length albums so I thought I’d try this out as a solo artist.

Q: What will be the 1st single?
Max: The single will be a song called Sam (I’m Dreaming Of You) which will have two B-Sides which are still undecided on at the moment.

Q: Your engaged to Juliette, does it not bother her that you reference other women in your songs?
Max: No. Because they’re usually fictional and she knows it. With Sam (I’m Dreaming Of You) it’s a bit different because the Sam in the song is a real person. She was a childhood friend since the age of about 6 and the first person I was ever in love with but we never became anything more than friends, she’s no longer with us which Juliette is aware of. They actually met each other in June last year 3 weeks before she died so it’s not necessarily a love song about dreaming of her in a sexual or attracted way, it’s more of a love song about how I miss her as a friend and I do always dream about her and she’s always in my memories.

Q: You’ve been asked recently about what music you like but I’m interested in what music you dislike?
Max: Well I always feel a little bit weird about criticising fellow musicians but there are definitely times when a song will come on the radio and I’d think how can anyone listen to this but I suppose it would be a bit pointless me not answering you questions so I’d probably have to say I’m not a fan of Madison O’Leary’s music, it’s just not what I’d listen to I don’t have any problems with her as a person and she is successful but I wouldn’t listen to her music just like she’d probably not like my music. It’s nothing personal.

Q: Well we’ll make things easier for you, what music do you like?
Max: I’ve answered the same question recently and there are a lot of people I like, Reckoner, The Voyd, The Bards, Failed Youth, Live Youth, Billy Madison, Marc Rolan, Saburben Sunrise, The Walls, Joey Rhodes, Heroes & Cons, Thunder Road, Cristina Lake, Alicia Lena, Tisha Jackson, Miss Vanity, Moquel, Johnny Guitar, Firecracker 47, Briana Risk and so much more.

Q: There’s quite a mix of pop and rock music in there why do you seem to like pop music?
Max: I’ve never disliked pop music, I think that’s a miss conception, just because I’m in rock bands and my music is generally rock music doesn’t mean I don’t like pop music, there are a lot of talented pop musicians but then there are some pop stars who are all about success and forget what they got into music for. The only problem I have with some pop stars is the fact that some of them do have people write a lot of their songs which is frustrating and some people are all about fame and consider themselves the spokesperson of their generation, just get on with the music side of things and shut up is what I’d say.

Q: You’ve had a lot to deal with in the past year, how has that changed you and how did you cope?
Max: I coped because of Juliette, she was amazing when I was dealing with grief and such. She made me realise that I have 3 people in my life who needed me and she really helped look after my brother and sisters because I think a lot of women would have bolted when It became clear that we had to almost become parents to my brother and sisters and it’s changed me a lot, it’s made me realise that no matter what happens there is always something worth living for. It was tough but you kind of gotta just roll with the punches.

We hope you single does really well and wish you all the best in your future plans.
