Singles from Liberation:1. Beautiful
Released: 15th June 2010
Track listing:1. Beautiful - 3.49
Writer(s): Maine, Williams.
The song starts with a slow guitar playing, with Maine singing about how beauty is judged only by looks, before the other instruments kick in and build the speed of the song, heavy drum work is noticeable. The more the song progresses the more anger is shown by Maine with him screaming “You destroyed us” The song is about how once a loved one is lost, the damage can’t be healed in some cases. 2. This Is The Way Of The Samurai - 4.23
Writer(s): Williams, Maine
The song is about honour, and how people refuse to keep it, there are many references to the way which ex vocalist Kieran Marks left the band. “Pick up, drop now, this is a fucking breakdown” said in more of a rapping based way by drummer Norris on the song, and it’s the first time he has done vocals for the band. It’s a fast, heavy song that will please fans of pre-Liberation The Verdict Is Vengeance songs. 3. Always With Opposites (Featuring Bradley Smith) - 3.57
Writer(s): Williams
A slow song which could easily become a pop hit if advertised correctly. The only instruments used are a slow saddening piano and vocals from Maine and guest vocalist Bradley Smith from Counting Down. The song is based around not being able to love the person you do because of the differences you have. “Is it really true, Are these plans really through? We buried the sky, now we’ll sink and die”4. Dirty Whore - 4.53
Writer(s): Williams, Nind
One of the heaviest songs written by the band since the demo’s they released before Liberation, this song has death core drum beats, with guitars to match, but the vocals aren’t as heavy, leaving a weird mix. Screams are done by Maine while Williams sings the clean vocals of ‘I only care when your on your knees’5. Lies Make You Famous - 3.28
Writer(s): Williams
The song in which the EP is named after. It’s a typical song from the band, a simple synth loop in the background with a heavy set of guitars and drums used, then getting heavier towards the end of the song towards a breakdown. The song is about how Marks lied about what happened with the band to gain himself fame. 6. Heartbeat (Live From Brixton Academy) - 4.01
A live version of a fan favourite song, The first thing you hear as the songs plays is a low bass line, with a fast double bass pedal going, then the guitars and synths come in adding an extra heavy touch by using many pedals and effects. The vocals are more of a shout, then as the song breaks down both Maine and Williams begin to scream at the same time to end the song.PersonnelMain BandSam Maine: Lead Vocals, Screams, Lyrics
