Alicia Lena’s star is rising rapidly, her third single Party-Starter became her first single to break into the top 10 in any country and she’s been highly talked about by various people in the industry as one of the brightest stars in music right now, that’s something she strongly denies, “I don’t like the banner, The future of pop, I’m really not, I’m not denying that my music is pop music, it’s also RNB and Blues and other genre’s but to say I’m the future of pop is crazy, I’d rather people just say “Oh she’s doing well, she deserves it.” but they have to go a little bit too far sometimes.”

Success may seem to have come easy for her but she thinks differently, “I tried for a lot of labels and I was actually starting to think maybe this wasn’t going to happen for me but I got word that a label owner was in this small club where I was performing, I also worked there, I used to wait on the tables and at the end of the week I’d say to the owner of the club you can take $10 out of my wages if I can perform 4 songs at the end of the week, and that’s how I started performing for the club and luckily one night Max was in with Lucy and they saw me perform and I guess they were impressed, they met up with me at the end of the night when I was clearing up the tables and they said they wanted to talk to me in the next couple of weeks about a record deal. It’s weird because this time last year I was working at a club and now I’m performing places like Madison Square Garden as support for someone as huge as Tisha Jackson. It’s a crazy rise for me and I wake up every morning thinking I’m the luckiest person in the world. My dreams really have come true”.

She’s also been involved in a high profile relationship with Moquel which is now over a couple of months after it begun, but when asked she didn’t seem too interested in speaking in too much detail about the relationship, “Moquel’s a great guy and I loved being with him, We worked together on a song for my album and we worked on a song for his album, we fell in love but things change, it’ doesn’t mean that part of me doesn’t still love him, but you’ve got to do the right thing, and the right thing was for us to break up, I don’t want to go into why we broken up because that’s private and I believe it should stay private,”

We also speak about her friendships in the business, most notably Tisha Jackson, “Tisha is an amazing person, she really doesn’t get the credit she deserves, she’s not hard to get in touch with and she’s always there to listen, I don’t know anyone who can party like her aswell.”
She’s got her first headlining tour coming up towards the end of the year and she couldn’t be more excited about it, “It’s huge I never expected to get a headlining tour so soon in my career, people are gonna love, O’Bryan Richmond is supporting which will be great, I worked with him on a track on his debut album which is gonna be huge.”
