So, as some of you may or may not know, i'm a killers fan. I don't like to call myself a huge fan because they've only had a few albums out, but i guess i'm a bit of a closeted huge fan taking the role of an average fan. So, when frontman Brandon Flowers announced the release of his first solo record back in april, I was ecstatic because since the killers were on break at that point, this would be the closest you could get to a killers album.

He released that song "Crossfire" a while back. I thought it was an okay track, even better than some killers songs, but it didn't really give me any goosebumps or anything. But it was still satisfying as a song. And then a few months later, he released the album Flamingo, and I listened through it, and I must say, it was a bit of a challenge to listen through to the end of it. It failed my expectations entirely. The album's entire concept is very similar to Sam's Town, in the sense that it is about the good ol' days and lifestyles of the gambling capitol of the world Las Vegas. He reused an old idea and transformed it into something worse. The album sounds like some 80s heartland rock record, only Flamingo has this mash of synths that sound fairly reminiscent to Day & Age-esque synths, plus Flower's voice doesn't really fit in too well as an 80s rock singer. Sam's Town worked out as such because I hate to say it but because you could actually hear the bass, and the killers are known for their bassist Mark Stoermer's prominence in their sound. Plus, Sam's Town was still an apparent alternative rock record, so it wasn't an entire 80s imitate.

So, my thought on the record aren't too good. It's so sad, that even artists like Brandon Flowers are recycling ideas, and that makes me sad. Reall overall, Rock had a pretty terrible year so far. I'm hoping for next year to be better.

I really like the Killers I think they're a really good pop band and I enjoy there music.
I have to say I bought the album and although it was ok it's not anywhere near as good as I thought it would be, Crossfire is a decent track and there's one or two others but I couldn't listen to it from start to finish again.
I have to point out that Sam's Town is an incredible album, My favourite album by The Killers, it's really amazing.

i agree entirely with this statement. I like Sam's Town more than even Hot Fuss because Sam's Town feels more in depth than Hot Fuss, which was kinda just an album with cool songs.

Yeah, it's shocking that Brandon Flowers is recycling ideas because The Killers were well original.

As they say on the internet, "LOL"

I'm not a huge Killers fan nor have I ever really been, but I still decided to check this album out since I enjoyed Crossfire. After giving the album a few listens apart from Crossfire, I only ended up liking Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas and Only the Young. Apart from those, I think any of the other songs would have easily been able to become a Killers song with some changes here and there. To be honest, no one can consider Brandon Flowers or the Killers for that matter to really be rock, pop/rock of course, but not plain rock. Flamingo was a very generic and rather boring album to say the least.
