Founder: Greg Walls
Founded: 2010
Genres: Various
Distributor: Studio60 Productions
Country Of Origin: United States
Headquarters: Studio60, West Hollywood, California

Studio60Records is an American record label, owned by Greg Walls, it operates as a music-based record label and production company. Founded in 2010 by former Columbia Records executive and Junction Records co-owner Greg Walls it has since grown in stature since its creation and has become the home to many-high profile acts in the previous two years of the label's existence. In mid-2011 Greg Walls hired relatively unknown record producer and songwriter Giovanni Rose as co-owner in a bid to take the label on to greater heights, that decision proved to be a success as the label quickly became one of the highest profile labels in the music industry and continues to develop and grow with a roster which includes some of the most high profile musicians in the industry as well as a number of talented young musicians looking to make their mark on the music industry.
It's one of the most powerful record labels in the music industry and made a profit of $40 million in the past year, the 'Studio60' company is reportedly now worth over $80 million, making it one of the most valuable assets to the music industry, as a record company they serve their artists in all aspects of their career from promotion support to personal support.

Mind
Studio60 are pleased to announce the signing of Mind. Mind are a hugely successful Heavy Metal band. They have came to prominence for breaking the mould, become one of the most commercially successful Metal bands in history, they’re loved by many and don’t really fit into only one genre. Their frontman Jason Smith is hugely popular in the music industry and has produced a number of records including the Alt Pop singer/songwriter Cristina Lake and the rock chick Stacey Walton, this has gone to show that Jason is hugely respected beyond his own field of Metal heads.
Their album Shattered Fairytale has gone on to become one of the most critically successful albums for a very long time and their star continue’s to rise, they don’t shy away from the mainstream with Jason Smith set to perform alongside GirlSpice at the Hall Of Fame awards later tonight.

Greg: We hope so too, I think to launch a record label from scratch and sign one of the biggest names in music right now, shows our intent on creating a record label that will last and help make superstars as well as develop the acts who are already superstars like yourselves. Anything you need from us at Studio60 then just ask. Glad to have you on board.

Ryan Ross Hernandez
Studio60Records have made their very first signing, one of the biggest names in modern music, Ryan Ross Hernandez. Greg Walls met up with RRH to discuss signing him to his very new record label and is a known fan of the musician. Greg initially tried to convince Max Armstrong to sign Hernandez to JunctionRecords but Max declined, this however triggered Greg Walls into leaving JunctionRecords and creating Studio60.
Ryan Ross Hernandez is without doubt one of the most recognizable musicians in history and has only released 3 solo albums, all of which were very well received and both critically and commercially successful, Ryan’s personal life however has been a very different story, he continually plays the media game with such skill and cleverly gives the media what they want, this does however sometimes backfire.
But Hernandez continues to be one of the most, revered musicians around.

Today I am at Studio60 to meet Greg Walls to interview him about his brand new record label, He’s invited me on a tour of the building and I must say it is impressive, there is two floors in this building and right in the centre of the building is a performance area. Anyway onto the interview, I sit down with Greg in his office and we begin the interview.

Interviewer: Hi Greg, how’ve you been, I read reports that you left Junction Records over an argument with Max over his refusal to speak to Ryan Ross Hernandez over a record deal, is that true?
Greg: That’s not entirely true, I’ll admit I spoke to Max about signing Ryan to Junction Records because I’m a huge fan of his, but sadly they stay out of each others way, they’re not exactly friends shall we say. But that’s not why I left Junction Records, I left Junction Records because I felt the timing was right, I was basically running Junction Records from New York and I thought, “Wait a minute I’m running this thing but I don’t get the final say, it may appear like it was my label but it wasn’t, Max always had to green light any signing I wanted to make which was frustrating because he passed on a couple of incredible musicians.” Anyway, I thought it was time for me to try things with my own label, something I was planning for about 6 years now.

Interviewer: And the result of that, is of course Studio60Records, what are you looking for from this label?
Greg: Well you know I’ve got a lot of label experience, I’ve been working for record labels all of my adult life really, my first ever job was an unpaid internship at Columbia Records and I gradually made my way up and my final position at Columbia was Head Scout, I left in 2007 and decided to take a seat back which didn’t last very long, I found out about this small label run by the struggling Rockstar and his friend, they couldn’t really do anything with the label, so I spoke to them and helped fund the label and now they’re one of the biggest contenders in music. So I think I have a lot of experience and the timing was perfect. In terms of what I want this label to become is simple, the biggest record label around. It will be tough to make that happen with labels like Junction Records, Hot Eye Records and Shooting Star Records, but I’m up for the challenge.

Interviewer: And what kind of acts are you looking to sign?
Greg: There’s no preference, any genre’s are welcome, our first two signings couldn’t have been more different, Hernandez and Mind, they’re two of the biggest names in music and I’m amazed that they agreed to join us. I’ll not be looking for just established artists, I’ll be looking for the future and I think we can really develop the younger artists and hopefully we can give them something different, something you can’t get from other labels, it’s all very exciting really.

Interviewer: And would you say your persuasive enough to get people on board?
Greg: I’m not really like a suit wearing executive, I’m more of a friendly face, I won’t be forcing my acts to do things they’re not comfortable with, I don’t know how persuasive I am, I don’t have all of the business talk but I am very likeable and easy to talk to.

Interviewer: And would you consider stealing artists from rival labels?
Greg: Well I can tell you, there is nothing worse than when there’s an artist you really want on your label but they’re signed to someone else, If I am interested in an artist who already has a label, I won’t got to the artist first, I’ll go to the label and see if there is anyway we could make a deal and then if they agree to it then I’d speak with the act, I’m not a nasty person and I won’t go stealing another labels artist without permission from the label, that’s just not nice.

Interviewer: So is there anyone your particularly interested in signing?
Greg: Well that’s kind of like me tapping up another labels artist if I answer that, there‘s some amazing people in music right now and there‘s one young musician who I‘m hugely interested in, She has a label right now and I‘ll contact her label and see if there is any way a deal can be arranged but I doubt it would happen but we‘ll see, if not then I‘ll look elsewhere.

Interviewer: And how would an unsigned act get to join your label?
Greg: Well the obvious way is to send in demo tapes of your music, another is for a band to let me know they’ve got a gig and I can try to get there or send a talent scout. And another way is something I’ve been preparing, an talent search open day which I’d look to begin soon.

Interviewer: Sounds interesting, what kind of people have you got helping you with this label?
Greg: There’s three people who I’ll be working closely with at this label, Jackson Greenberg’s role is as a Vice President and scout. Samantha Carr is head of artistic development, she’s the person our acts will go to if they have any issues an Amanda Peters is Executive Vice President and a talent scout. I’ve know those three for about 12 years now and they’re great at what they do and hopefully it will stand us out ahead of the other labels.

Interviewer: And have you got any other things going on?
Greg: Yeah a couple of things, I’m eventually going into producing, I’ve been producing Max Armstrong’s up coming album My Time Now and I’ve got this burning desire to produce more albums, so If anyone wants a producer then I’m available, obviously my main focus is on the label though.

Interviewer: Well thank you for your time and this looks like it’s gonna be an incredible record label, good luck with it all.
Greg: Thanks, so far everything has gone incredibly.

MICHELLE GREEN SIGNED!!!!

UserPostedImage

Today Studio60 have completed a deal with Junction Records to transfer Michelle Green over to Studio60 Records. Michelle Green is a young girl with so much talent, she is gonna be one of the biggest names in music and this move is hopefully gonna help turn Michelle Green into a worldwide superstar.
She released her debut album Fifteen which was very successful and helped thrust Michelle Green into the spotlight and all at the age of fifteen.
She then stepped out of the limelight and took some time away from the music industry to relax. She has also worked with some big names in music including Stacey Walton, Matty and The Bards.
Owner of Studio60, Greg Walls had this to say, “I’m in dreamland right now, she’s beyond incredible and people will see that if they haven’t already, she’s not your typical pop princess and she doesn’t need to get half naked to sell records, her music does the talking and I’m delighted that I could arrange a deal with Junction Records and I’m delighted that Michelle has agreed to sign a two album deal at Studio60, I’m so happy about this signing and hopefully together we can give her the type of support she deserves.”

Michelle Green seems to be taking full advantage of her industry buzz citing that she will be releasing an official E.P entitled Dark Horse

UserPostedImage
Genre: Various (Alt Pop, Indie Pop, Jazz, Indie Rock)
Label: Studio60 Records/Junction Records
Release: October 12th, 2010

1. Let It Go (For A Day) feat The Bards
2. Shooting Stars (Michelle Green & Matty) [Remastered]
3. Dark Days
4. Call Me A Liar
5. Young And Restless (Stacey Walton & Michelle Green)
6. Born In the U.K
7. Cry

Name of the E.P

Quote:

I've decided to name my E.P "Dark Horse" because of a statement made by Moe Z of The Bards and the rest of the Bards members. They pretty much joked around about how no one sees me at this point but in the end I'll be shining. They dubbed me the name, Dark Horse. And it really stuck with me. No, I don't really want all the exposure in the world and I'm excited with the exposure that I've been gaining but since Voice of Me had been released some of my music has grown and I thought it would be great to put some of it out already!

About the E.P

Quote:
Dark Horse is pretty much the amazing features I've been apart of, it will include Let it Go (For a Day), my current single off of Voice of Me "Dark Days" and three never before heardtracks. Expect some catchy Indie Pop, , Indie Rock, Jazz, and Alternative Pop that has gotten me here today. This record has become one of my favorite pieces of work because it has a huge variety from the catchy Pop/Rap with Matty to the Rock/Jazz track with Stacey Walton. What I do love in the end, is that I do stay true to my type of music genre even when I explore out on other genre's. I love that I can include it all in my E.P because it really is good music. Shout Out's to Stacey and Matty *laughs* !

Single For The E.P?

Quote:
Well for the single, Let It Go (For A Day) has gotten a huge reception so my label wants me to push that song out before the release of the E.P while still pushing out Dark Days for "The Voice Of Me" I'm quite a mulitasker so it shall be fun!

Album Art

Quote:
I took the album cover in Japan with Manami Kokoro. She is an amazing photographer and it wouldn't be right if a dark horse wasn't in the photo. So I wanted my makeup and hair to be very wild but couture and professional for the horse to just shine. I love this album work.

It is an honor to be signed to a label that also houses artists for whom we have a great respect for, as well as friendship with. We are excited to finish work on the new album and will have details of the first single within the week.

Greg Walls: It's been amazing to see the label grow in front of my eyes. There's a lot of amazing labels around so the fact that you guys decided to join this fairly new label is great. I'm so honoured to have all of you on this label and I thank you all for making my life a lot easier.

Greg: Because we're such a new label we've missed out on some great talent, yourself included. But the acts we've got on this label are 4 incredible acts and it's quite a diverse bunch. There all at the top of their game and I still have to pinch myself when I think about them being on this label.
