Some fans have anticipated your debut in this short amount of time, do you have any news or leads for us?Yes a lot of news that will be coming sooner than everyone thinks, and that's a promise. I have a song coming out and an album that's finally here! It feels like its been forever and the fans that have been following me and have seen my presence will finally be put out of their misery of what I call waiting.
How did you get into the music business?Ok what happened was, was I always loved music, love rapping in particular. I began singing and I just kind of always wanted to rap and I gave it a try and one night I was at a huge club in New York, and they were having some karaoke where all the drunk people in da club could go up and spit on the mic over a backing track of a real rap song. All my people were telling me to go up and do it, and damn I was nervous but I picked myself up and went up on stage, told them to throw on a debut instrumental I had and I just rapped to that..and surprisingly, I know it sounds too crazy..but their was a talent scout there and approached me after the club to began to work with him, a few meetings later and I find myself doing all this! So happy....
How do you feel about the lack of female MC's in the music industry, as well as male?Hm.. I feel that its sad, I think rap is in a lack aside from some rappers that are out there. There's just not enough! And that's not good... not good at all.. if it was a music war of some crappy, crappy music versus some of raps best lyricists we'd get our asses kicked because there's a big ass gap in rap lyricists
Do you think being a female makes you underestimated?
In rap... yes. Just because we arent really respected as much as men and we have to try 3 times harder to get the respect we really want
You worked with Tanya of TeenTitans on a track from her album named 'Unexpected Love', how was it working with her and on the track?I think Tanya's just a good artist and best of luck to her and her solo career. But the girl has some pipes and I was mad shocked to actually have someone who wants to work with me on their track, I got in that studio with her and spit some fire on that track and really had everyone's heads boppin in the studio, that was a good ass feeling...
What do you think about the current rappers out at the moment? There doing them... and I'm doing me. We got some rappers that pop out of no where crying about how much they've gone through but they walk around with 300 dollar lace wigs and Louboutins with multi hundred dollar outfits on, all this money right? But they've gone through so much...yeah... they've gone through so much. Everyone's life is tough but don't talk about how fucked up your life is when you look like your living the life. Got a person in ma head right now..
Is there a message, or something in particular you look to succeed while making music? That a woman can conquer the rap genre, just has great as a male can, and be respected while doing it.
You have a single coming out, called 'Aint a Contest' tell us a little bit about the single Yes, Aint a Contest! Its just a dope track that I've been working on. Its talking about how its not a contest what I'm doing. I'm in my own league and no one has what it takes to be in competition with me. Its very 21st century Hip Hop/Crunk that could appeal to a commercial audience. I'm sure people are gonna like it.
And what about an album, got any names and some tracks you can spill out for us??I'll spill the name of the album out.... well im not 100 percent sure but I think where gonna go with the title "Not Just a Pretty Face" out in January. I came up with the name because yes .. I'm pretty but people mistake my pretty face for being soft, I'm a tough girl from New York and I gotta let people recognize that I'm not the one to mess with. We all saw that with Allura.. but I'm not here to just have beef beef beef I'm also here to make some quality music. Its not all about beef... I eat beef like it is, swallow it whole. But sometimes I'm not hungry for it, its not all about beef but damn I'm not running away from it if its served on my plate, hell no!
