So, I was fiddling around today when I accidentally recorded a new track. I would say song, but you can't really call it a song. It's a nebulous ambient kind of thing. It's kind of melodic and organic in a weird way. Simple glowing notes suspended in a fog of droning feedback. It's really just three takes of highly-processed guitar. I think it's probably the best thing I've done in years so anyway. Here it is: Edited by user 14 November 2010 03:15:26(UTC)

Drone isn't really my cup of tea but I liked the sounds for the most part. It felt empty and it's missing something in my opinion, trying to put my finger on what that something is. |

Most music has a focal element, whether that's vocals, or a single instrument. Instead, this is an amorphous haze of no-specific shape. It's colours rather than shapes. |

Not exactly that, I think it might be some type of vocal element. So that it could be colors with lines under it. |

As with everything else I do musically, I can provide a texture, but I cannot provide clarity. Maybe it's like impressionism, or finger-painting. |

I'm sure you know some one who can sing even just a tiny bit, hell you could even do spoken-word. Saul Williams can't really sing, doesn't stop him fro making good songs -

I don't know anyone who can sing. I could also have ended that sentence three words earlier. |

Just digging through some abandoned musical ideas earlier, came across this bunch of crappy half-baked sketches: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/...0of%20a%20Frogburger.mp3I don't know what this was, some kind of weird awful chiptune elements... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/...mp/more%20vegetables.mp3Out-take from an old college project, featuring Cam (forkboy) at the beginning. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/...usic%20dump/mselfsab.mp3An experiment to see how destroyed I could make something sound whilst still being able to just about make it out. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/...usic%20dump/tomathon.mp3A Toms-only drum experiment. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/...%20sleep%20to%20this.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/...leep%20to%20this%202.mp3From an idea I may revisit, music for sleep. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/...20dump/55378008%20v2.mp3I guess this was supposed to be a jingle or something. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/...0glitch%20beat%20two.mp3More failed attempts to make interesting beats. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/...dump/reichglassriley.mp3Experimenting with phasing, inspired primarily by Steve Reich' Piano Phase. One "player" drifts increasingly out of sync with the other, causing phasing, and ideally, a whole host of exciting psychoacoustic phenomena nobody gives a fuck about... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/...mp/dual%20drum%20dub.mp3Dual drum programming, and my lousy guitar playing.
