September 11, 2011 – The Concert For Angel
Alicia Lena PerformanceWho I Am, Who I'm Not, Who I Wanna BeAs the stage empty’s from the previous performance and the announcer introduces the next act, the crowd go insane when they hear, “Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome to the stage, Ms. Alicia Lena!!!” The spotlight hits the stage which shows a solitary piano with smoke dancing along the stage floor. The crowd wait a couple of seconds before Alicia Lena makes her way onstage, she smiles and waves as the crowd hit fever pitch at the RnB singer’s entrance. She makes her way over to the piano and takes a seat on the stool, she turns to the audience and smiles, “So before I begin I just wanna say a huge thank you to everyone who has came out tonight for such a worthy cause.” The crowd cheers as she begins to play the piano intro to her first song, she then continues. “And it’s people like yourselves that give us hope that there is good out there, you’ve just gotta get through all the bad before you can find those shining lights and each and every one of you that is here tonight are my shining lights. Thank you a million times.” She then begins to play her piano at a higher tempo and it’s instantly recognized as her number #1 hit Who I Am, Who I’m Not, Who I Wanna Be. The crowd erupt as she begins singing.
“I’m Sitting All Alone In An Empty Hotel Room
Singing Along To That Familiar Tune
Looking At Myself, Just Trying To Figure Who I’ve Become
Trying To Figure Which Part Of Me Has Won
---
So I’ll Ask Myself, Am I The Best Possible Version Of Me
Do I Take The Time To Thank The People Who Made Me Who I Am Today
Do I Thank The People That Never Stood In My Way
Do I Thank Them All, One By One
Will I Pay My Respects Once They’ve Gone
---
And So Instead, I’m Still Figuring Out
Which Part Of Me I Can Live Without
So I’ll Take Away The Bad And Work Hard On The Good
I’ll Take It All Away If I’m Misunderstood
And This Is …
---
This Is Who I Am, Who I’m Not, Who I Wanna Be
So If The Person Looking Back At Me, Is The Person I Don’t Want To Be
I’ll Make A Change, Make Things Better, Not For You, But For Me
So This Is Who I Am, Who I’m Not, Who I Wanna Be.”
Another Face In The CrowdAs the music begins to fade, the stadium goes into a relative silence as the night begins to appear over the park creating an almost perfect moment of beauty, after a brief silence the twinkling piano introduction to the next song begins and as Alicia says, “This is called Another Face In The Crowd.” The crowd erupts into cheers as the singer begins singing;
“New York Is Lonely And New York Is Cold
You Learn To Grow So Quickly, You Learn To Grow Old
Main Street Is Over-Crowded Even At The Best Of Times
And New York Is Scary, Full Of Those Petty Crimes
---
I’ll Head Out Into The Country
Where I Can Walk The Streets Without A Care
I’ll Head Out Into The Country
Because I Know I’ll Never Find You There
---
The Damage From Manhattan It’s Already Done
I’ve Spent My Evenings Alone Too Often, It Ain’t So Fun
My Piano Has Been My Only Real Friend
It’s Time To Leave, It’s Time For This To End
---
All I’ve Ever Wanted Is To Be Proud
All I’ve Ever Wanted Is To Be
Another Face In The Crowd
Another Face In The Crowd”
Stand By Me (Ben E.King Cover)As the song finishes the crowd goes quiet once more as Alicia takes a drink of water and adjusts the microphone slightly, she looks out at the audience and smiles before saying, “How’s everyone enjoying tonight, it’s surely a great cause. I’ve got two more songs left for you and I want you to sing along with every piece of your heart, seriously guys I wanna see this park explode into a song. I want us all to sing together as one … this is called Stand By Me.” At the announcement of the song title and the intro to the song the park hits fever pitch once more as Alicia begins singing along in unison with the crowd.
“When The Night Has Come And The Land Is Dark
And The Moon Is The Only Light We See
No, I Won’t Be Afraid, Oh, I Won’t Be Afraid
Just As Long As You Stand, Stand By Me
---
So Darling, Darling, Stand By Me, Oh, Stand By Me
Oh, Stand, Stand By Me. Stand By Me
---
If The Sky That We Look Upon Should Tumble And Fall
Or The Mountain Should Crumble To The Sea
I Won’t Cry, I Won’t Cry, No, I Won’t Shed A Tear
Just As Long As You Stand, Stand By Me
---
And Darling, Darling, Stand By Me
Darling, Darling, Stand By Me
Whenever You’re In Trouble
Won’t You Stand By Me, Oh, Stand By Me”
A Change Is Gonna Come (Sam Cooke Cover)Alicia pauses once more briefly before playing the intro to the next song, she says, “London your amazing. I got one more song for ya, so please sing along for all the world to hear … This is called A Change Is Gonna Come.” She stares down at the piano and then looks up at the sky before singing softly.
“I Was Born By The River In A Little Tent
Oh And Just Like The River, I’ve Been Running Ever Since
It’s Been A Long, A Long Time Coming
But I Know A Change Is Gonna Come, Oh Yes It Will
---
It’s Been Too Hard Living, But I’m Afraid To Die
‘Cause I Dunno What’s Up There Beyond The Sky’
It’s Been A Long, Long Time Coming
But I Know A Change Is Gonna Come, Oh Yes It Will
---
I Go To The Movie And I Go Downtown
Somebody Keep Telling Me, “Don’t Hang Around”
It’s Been A Long, A Long Time Coming
But I Know A Change Is Gonna Come, Oh Yes It Will
---
Then I Go To My Brother
And I Say ‘Brother Help Me Please’
But He Winds Up Knocking Me
Back Down On My Knees
---
Oh There Been Times That I Thought I Couldn’t Last For Long
But Now I Think I’m Able To Carry On
It’s Been A Long, A Long Time Coming
But I Know A Change Is Gonna Come, Oh Yes It Will.”
As the song ends Alicia stands to her feet and takes a bow, she waves at the crowd as she exits the stage with the crowd screaming at the top of their voice.
