From left to right: Mike Hardaway, Andy Hardaway, Ian Jaskson

Genre: Prog Rock, Emo, Hard Rock

Location: Long Island, New York

Members:

Ian Jackson - Guitar
Andy Hardaway - Vocals, Guitar
Mike Hardaway - Drums, Percussion

Bio: Liars and Thieves was founded in late 2010 when brothers Andy and Mike Hardaway decided they wanted to start a band. A little while later after finding Ian Jackson Liars and Thieves began to take shape. They began by just jamming out, but soon found that not only were they serious, but they also thought they were pretty darn talented. They grew up listening to artists such as Rush, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, and Aerosmith. Earlier this month they recorded a few demos and hope to have some music available to the public sometime soon. Some more current artists that they enjoy are Mind, The Bards, and Infinite.

Tour:

Liars and Thieves has no current touring plans but would love to be a support act on a tour of some sort.

(OoC: I'll have more info up such as individual bios in no time. I just wanted to get things going)

Thank you all for showing an interest. We'll try to get some demos done next week so you can hear what were all about.

On another note every band needs a logo right? If not a logo at least some sort of image to be recognized by. Well check this out. I hope you enjoy! - Mike

Andy - Vocals, Guitar
UserPostedImage
Andy Hardaway grew up in a medium sized town in Delaware. The dream of making it in the music industry came at a young age when he began singing and playing whatever instrument he could get his hands on. Later on he began listening to bands such as Rush, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, The Cure, and Radiohead. After he finished high school and a couple years at a community college he moved to New York. He wasn't sure what he was going to do. Initially he thought he would go and find out what he wanted to do with his life. What he found out was that the dream of music was what he wanted to do.

Mike - Drums, Percussion
UserPostedImage
When they were younger Mike and his brother Andy would play music together. Andy would play his guitar and Mike would play the drums. Musically Mike is more influenced by punk rock, metal and grunge. In highschool they ceased playing music together because of these differences; Mike wanted to play music that was heavier. However after they were both adults and Andy expressed an interest in moving to New York, Mike decided to come with. Once they arrived they both discovered that music is what they were meant to do.

Ian - Guitar
UserPostedImage
Ian Jackson is a New York city native. He picked up a guitar when he was in 8th grade. Later in life he got involved in the New York music scene. He was in a couple of bands before he helped start Liars and Thieves. He met Mike and Andy on their first day in New York. He told them about a gig he was playing that night. They both showed up and when the band Ian had been in broke up he met up with Mike and Andy and they started Liars and Thieves.

Care for an update? Fasten your seatbelts because weve got one fresh out of the oven! After a long day in studio we should have some songs coming your way. A couple of demos will be streaming up here and will also be available for download. You can expect them to be up in a few days after we've mixed the tracks just the way we like em. - Andy

It took a little bit longer than expected but we've got some songs ready for your enjoyment! Listen to them here for free! Were thinking about trying to get some sort of record deal and make an album as soon as we can. Hopefully these songs can help get us off the ground.

In your Court
The song starts off with an egressive and dangerously addictive bass lick (OoC: Similar to that from the song I Will Posess Your Heart). Whispery vocals and a slightly timid guitar riff join in to complete the verse. Then an eruption of noise arrives as the loud and catchy chorus takes shape (OoC: Imagine early Incubus meets 30 Seconds to Mars). Then the second more lively verse takes shape with the drums, bass, guitar and vocals. The next chorus is very similar to the first. Then things slow down and get a little bit quieter (OoC: Think of the bridge from Brand New's The Quiet Things That no One Ever Knows). This lasts for a little bit and then the guitar and vocals get loud as Andy goes into the song's passionate scream which leads into the final chorus. The song ends with about ten seconds of the begenning bass riff.

Excuses
This song starts upbeat with a heavily Rush influenced guitar riff. Overall this song is just meant to be a catchy radio-ready pop song. That is until the bridge comes around. Ian blasts out a great guitar solo (OoC: Imagine something you might hear on a pearl jam album), and then Andy goes off on a run, and the beat of the song gets more agressive. Just before the final chorus there is a breakdown in which Ian and Andy have great harmonizing vocals (OOC: Imgine early Taking Back Sunday). The final chorus goes just like the others did to close off this pop song.

If You Find Me
This song begins with a blank tone on guitar which builds up to a heavy explosion of noise from all instruments. Then things quiet down a bit into a very guitar player friendly verse. The prechorus gets quieter before the inevidable smash of noise. THis song twists though after that into a calmer breakdown (OOC: Similar to that of Brand New's song Limousine). This goes until Andy's inevidable scream which leads into another loud and heavy intrumental section. The next part of the song challenges Andy's vocals as he summons high notes while Ian plays a memorable riff on the guitar (OOC: Imagine early Coheed and Camria). The intense and passionate song ends in this fashion as Andy stops singing, the final notes are played on Ian's guitar, and Mike smashes his drums one last time.

(OoC: Those tour dates are incorrect. I'll get the right ones up soon.)

Hey ya'll! I'm glad to say that our debut single is going to be released at some point in the near future. We first just have to find a label that wants to release it. So if you're a fan and know some people in the music industry then bring our name up. We'll owe you one!

Hey guys! It's been awhile since we checked in. We've been writing a lot of songs. As soon as a nice label picks us up *hint* then we should be able to release those songs to the public. We made a video for battle of the bands. We decided to mess with the crowd which was made up mostly of older folk who were just debating whether or not they should call the cops or try to make us leave themselves. Check it out!

Liars and Thieves - Live at the Corner of Main and Cataract

A car starts. Bird chirp. Guitars are tuned. The scene takes shape on main street of a small Connecticut town. The camera closes in on three guys standing on a street corner. One of them takes their place on a drumset. The other two switch on their amps. One of them walks up to the mic. "We are Liars and Thieves. I am Andy. To my left on the guitar is Ian. Back there on the drums is my brother Mike. While other bands in this competition have played stadiums, were proudly playing the corner of Main and Cataract st. This first song is called Sleeping Wont Wait". Immediately Ian begin playing a loud distorted riff. The drums steadily join in, and Andy supplies some much needed bass. The vocals start fast to the point where lesser singers would easily find themselves tongue tied. The vocals slow down for the chorus because otherwise Andy would probably stop breathing. The chorus goes:

We could do it in the car
We dont have to go home now
Because wherever you are
I can always be with you
Yea, we can go so far
I will always be with you
We can feel what we want
When we do it in the car

The camera turns to briefly show a small crowd of locals staring open mouthed at Liars and Thieves, obviously slightly shocked that the quiet town has been subjected to hearing every sinister desire of Andy Hardaway's. The song ends with a howling yell that could be heard all the way down at the local diner. By now a nice crowd had formed. Not all of them were discussing what way was best to make the band leave. Some of them, mostly kids who happened to be out on the town, were enjoying the show. Because of the crowd, Andy decided the appropriate song to play. "We're going to do a cover. I expect to hear all of you singing along. This song is called Teenagers and it's by a band called My Chemical Romance,".

UserPostedImage

A small portion of the crowd joins in. Most, however are confused and don't know what to think. Andy conducts on the last chorus which is played only with a steady bass drum keeping the beat. Then Ian plays an improvised guitar solo to finish the song. "Back on Long Island, where we live, we played a show with a few other bands. They all went up and didn't play a single cover or a single good song. we played a set of a few originals, but mostly covers. We were gonna do one more original, but as I look out at this crowd there is only one song that comes to mind as one we should play, and it was written by a band called Brand New. This last song is called Soco Amaretto Lime,". There are cheers amongst some in the crowd who know the song. The rest are busy in debate as to whether or not they should call the local police. Andy puts down his bass, and Ian grabs an acoustic guitar. The song begins...

"Passed out on the overpass
Sunday best and broken glass
Broken down from the bikes and bars
Suspended like spirits over speeding cars
You and me were kings over the parkway tonight
And tonight will go on forever while we
walk around this town like we own the streets
and stay awake through summer like we own the heat
Singing "everybody wake up (wake up) it's time to get down"
(everybody, everybody wake up its time to get down)
And when I pass the bottle back to Pete
on the overpass tonight, I bet we laugh

I'm gonna stay eighteen forever (cut me open)
So we can stay like this forever (sun poisoned)
And we'll never miss a party (this offer...)
cause we keep them going constantly (...stands forever)
And we'll never have to listen (new haircut)
to anyone about anything (new bracelet)
cause it's all been done and it's all been said (eyeliner)
we're the coolest kids and we take what we can get

The hell out of this town
Find some conversation
The low fuel lights been on for days
It doesn't mean anything
I've got another 500, 'nother 500 miles
before we shut this engine down,
we shut it down

I'm gonna stay eighteen forever (cut me open)
So we can stay like this forever (sun poisoned)
And we'll never miss a party (this offer...)
cause we keep them going constantly (...stands forever)
And we'll never have to listen (new haircut)
to anyone about anything (new bracelet)
cause it's all been done and it's all been said (eyeliner)
we're the coolest kids and we take what we can get (wait forever)

(you're just jealous cause I'm young and in love)
Eighteen forever (first kisses)
(your stomach's filled up but you're starved for conversation)
So we can stay like this forever (new stitches)
(you're spending all your nights growing old in your bed)
And we'll never miss a party (collar weekend)
(and your tearin up your photos cause you wanna forget... it's over)
cause we keep them going constantly (appearance ticket)
(you're just jealous cause I'm young and in love)
And we'll never have to listen (November to...)
(your stomach's filled up but you're starved for conversation)
to anyone about anything cause it's all been done (...remember)
(you're spending all your nights growing old in your bed)
and it's all been said (nightswimmers)
(and your tearin up your photos cause you wanna forget... it's over)
we're the coolest kids and we take what we can get

Just jealous cause we're young and in love "

"Thank you all for listening to us. We are Liars and Thieves, and you have been a great audience. I can see that some of you want us to stop so were gonna head home."
