"Turning 50 years old is like getting slapped in the face by a chinese hooker named Mary Lou. It don't feel right, but yet it IS right. I spec' that through these long years I've paved a very rugged path that only a very ruggedly dumb person can pave. I've chased a girl from these wonderful United States to the rainy days of the U.K. I've seen me death twice, and I've shaken his hands twice. I've crawled out of a tar pit, lit a cigarette, and found that Jesus is just alright with me. And now I've become board, replaced Jesus with some mexican cat named Jezus. It's all the same to me.

Soul Change.

It's a term that only the ones who have paved their roads, walked it, and then tore it up just for kicks, use. I've wrecked my road nigh three times already. That is why this album is the next in line. I've sung about dirt, I've sung about New York, and lost love but I ain't never sung about the state of the world, and how I see it...in it's truest form. It ain't nothing but fields of debted money, and crooked little hearts, and malicious kings. This is what Soul Change is about my unlucky 13th album is all about.
