GEARS OF BREMEN - GALAXY ARMADA 7777: Destroy the Final Frontier!Extended Play Progressive Metal/Rock Monk on Fire Music Tracklisting: Overview: After finishing a tour with The Verdict is Vengeance, Progressive Rock band GEARS OF BREMEN decided that they would push back the Soundscape and after a few weeks of contemplation, they out right canceled the project. Soon after, the band faded into obscurity for a month, seeking to better themselves as a band and become more 'in-tune' with their instruments.
"The first week was difficult." Gary Finch admitted in an interview for this very album booklet. "I flew down to Mississippi, Renee went back to Europe, Paul actually went to Vietnam + Trinidad and Winston to Germany. We all decided that if we were going to try out this Metal Outfit we'd have to get in touch with the roots of it all. So I went to Mississippi and I went looking through the Bayou for this Old Blues Legend - 'Fingers McCoy'. After a couple days of looking I found him and I asked to be his apprentice, work on some guitar work and all and he reluctantly accepted it but man it was hell. I had to help him fish, live off of the land and all. I think I've come back the better guitarist for it though."
"I went to France specifically." Renee started off here interview. "I'm from France and it was nice to see Family when I got there but I was there for the music. Now when I went out looking for bands to follow around, get a feel for the local scene, I ended up hanging with a few House bands but I didn't really want to. After days of looking, I actually found what I wanted in a French Orchestra group that was sanctioned by the French Government to help relieve the depression of the Homeless Community. So the whole Orchestra was made of musicians who couldn't make it and were now Homeless, it really put things into prospective. I think the coolest person I met was a Cello Artist(I was a former Cello Artist) and together we practiced and worked on Lyrical Formulas."
Paul Glover went to Vietnam and then Trinidad for his practice sessions. "I went to Vietnam to practice different Drumming Techniques and I helped farm and all. After that I went to Trinidad to work on some Calypso drumming which was entirely fun. It was nice to mix with other cultures."
Lastly, Guitarist Winston Marsh went to Germany. "After days and days of looking for that Special Metal band, I was in a small club and the lights dimmed and strange sounds started up. The guitarist was paying some loud obnoxious riffs with fifteen speakers stacked behind him, the vocalist was moaning and everyone was trance dancing. I fucking loved it, after the show I met up with the guy and safe to say he didn't know who I was. He was Liam von Hammersmit and I practiced guitar with him during the month and well...here I am."
After a month of practicing their new genre the band had gotten together in the 'VERVE' Recording Studio of Seattle. Here they began to make their new mix of Metalcore and Progressive Metal in hopes of finding a new audience with metalheads.
"The EP was a huge clusterfuck really. It's two songs but in truth it's five songs." Says Gary Finch. "The title song 'Bremen' has four parts in it, each detailing a part of the story of Bremen. Each of the parts highlights one of our members. The second song, 'Space Whale Epidemic' is all of us coming together to make a huge fucking song.
Tracklisting - i.) Bremen [22:26] a. Cat [6:15] b. Dog [5:34] c. Rooster [4:15] d. Donkey [6:22] ii. Space Whale Epidemic [8:23] ((Author's Note: Whoa, that was alot to write out. Anyway, after seeing everyone write Live RPs, I decided it was best to continue Gears of Bremen's recording and get them on track for their debut album. This being one of the steps, hope you read it and hope you enjoyed it. A Space Shark getting shot at by a couple of Death Stars. Fucking epic. And, here's the best part; the music is even better than the EP cover. If this is any indication of what's to come, then the Gears of Bremen debut album will rock something legendary.
-Eric Quillington
OOC: Fantastic job, man! I'm honored to be an influence on stuff like this! |
Kid Anything- Indie/Britpop/Shoegaze; influenced by Sigur Ros, XXYYXX, Kanye West, Blur, Oasis (Bringing together an eclectic group of influences, Ulysses' songs are sung with carefree abandon by Nick Junk) Kurt Ulysses - Songwriter, Guitarist, Backup Vocalist Nick Junk - Vocals, Mojo Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles (Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. Infinite released four albums over the course of their career; Blue Nebula, Midnight Skies, Insomnia, and Dancing about Architecture.) Eric Quillington (Deceased) - Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, Piano, Primary Lyricist Matt Roberts - Bass Greg Oldson - Drums, Backup Vocals, Secondary Lyricist Amelia Florentine - Keyboards, Piano, Lyricist, Backup Vocals "When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope." - Stephen King |

OOC: Fantastic job, man! I'm honored to be an influence on stuff like this! Renee: Thanks, it was crazy finding that cover. We were done recording and then Gary was all, 'Star Wars is awesome but Space Whales are too, our cover should have both.' Then we called an artist and well....yeah. Glad to see you like the new Gears of Bremen though. OOC: Thanks dude, for the past few weeks. Hell ever since I started on here, I've been trying to get RPing as a musician down and so far I consider winning AATW my only success, oh and Ace Motel live at The Underground. Other than that I've just been trying to get better, anyway the Track Descriptions'll be up in a bit. |

SPACE WHALE EPIDEMIC/THIS WAR CAN'T HURT ME [8:23]
Overview: After a month long hiatus, the band went into hiatus. Each of the members went their own ways and after assembling together they each recorded their parts for the first song "Bremen" separately. The second song, 'Space Whale Epidemic' was the first song the band had recorded together since 'Heresy' from their first demo. "The song was our first Progressive Metal attempt." Gary Finch, lead guitarist and growler says. "The song was also really fun to write because it's about the final battle of this really illustrious war. People might like it, people might not. When we recorded it, I was really hoping for a Smashing Pumpkins feel. I was and I'm still really into Tonight Tonight by them, I remember seeing their performance live at the MTV Awards. I just hope I conveyed that type of feel."
Lyrics: Key - Renee - Screaming - Gary GrowlingDon't you ever wonder where the stars go? ( Never ever) Said the man with the funky set tempo No I don't think I do No I don't think I do |

I'm loving this EP! I'm glad that you've finally released something and it's turned out like this. I'm sure we'll play together again in the future! - Sam Maine
OOC: I've only just seen that you mentioned my RP's as some of your influences. I'm honoured.
