MONGOLBORD SURFINGTURD Newsletter 3

It's that time again ladies, time to get your monies together and buy the latest and hottest discs of extruded hydrocarbon.

This month we have a super-special surprise for you all, something that's been in the pipeline for a couple years - the label's best kept secret... Yes, it's a special DVD set release of The Only Significant Eyeball's acclaimed performance of their untitled pagan tableau suite. A work of such proportions that we are at a loss to describe it. A true masterwork.

Speaking of masterworks, our Plague Techtonics binge rages on, but this time it's actual new material! There's a new album around the corner, but before that we have a special limited-release binaural recording for die-hard fans. Plaque is based around ideas that were recorded for the album but discarded, and then developed into their own self-contained EP. Horror electronics, designed for headphone listening.

We also have a special 7" only single release from the latest MGS album, the details of which are kind of as unfathomable as you might expect.

More big releases coming around the corner.

Nighty night,
Quentin Uderick Iain Phong

The Only Significant Eyeball – A Fish For Which We Have No Name
(2xDVD)

1. Excerpts from A Baboon for All Seasons (19:48)
2. Blazing Lion of Destiny (20:08)
3. Excerpts from Heron of Woe (15:25)
4. The Illuminated Salamander of Truth (14:20)
5. A Fish For Which We Have No Name (18:59)

You are not prepared for this release. You couldn't possibly be. This is Mongolbord Surfingturd's first DVD release.

On the DVD, a film of the only performance to date of the entire primary pantheon of the extensive OSE pagan mythos pieces. Vast, sprawling works of exhausting splendour, these tracks represent the culmination of four years hard work on the part of the band, and feature a revolving ensemble of almost 30 different additional players – including members of Lord High Empruss Celia the Fuckin' Lamp, Polyps, Moth Made of Magnetic Goats, Plastik Oblong Orkestry and Mana Gunray Serpentine – with a full range of electric and acoustic instrumentation. These pieces draw from rich cultural traditions stretching back from the present day, through Asian, African, and Native American primitivism – all filtered through the scope of postmodern composition. Nothing is sacred, and yet, everything is.

Make no mistake, this is no rough bootleg footage, the performance was staged for filming, and is enhanced with extensive set design and projected animations. The disc takes its name from the final portion of the performance, which in the postmodern tradition, is perhaps of both the least and greatest significance to the work as a whole, referring conceptually to both the lobe-finned fish from which we all descend and the unrelated koi.

The second DVD contains a documentary about the musical production, animation and stage design, including extensive interviews with all of the core band members.

Do not miss this sublime multimedia spectacle.

2xDVD digipack only, high quality embossed cardstock sleeve and full libretto.

OOC: I'm kind of transitioning into it. I like doing it this way though, kind of detached from the soap-opera stuff of "Jungle Fart's Guitarist Billy Williams Found Dead in Home!", and making it more about creating in my head the kinds of music I would interested in following. I probably put way more thought into this stuff than I need to, but right now I have ideas for literally eight different releases from various different bands. I base the label primarily on labels like Constellation and Hydra-Head, with the idea that the label is based in Alberta, possibly Edmonton or Calgary. There's a common pool of musicians who tend to get involved in each others' projects.

In my head I kind of know what each band sounds like, what kind of records they would want to make, and what those records would look like. That's where my interest lies.
