The evening progressed slowly as the drunk crowd warmed up to the sound of heavy metal playing through the speakers. Nearly 200 people were packed into the sweaty room that passed as the concert hall. The lead vocalist, Lewis Williams, walked onstage in his gothic uniform...
Lewis during his pre gig rant.
"Lets fucking do this! Camden, sing with me, Rust, Rust, Rust in pieces!"
The rest of the band ran onstage and they launched into their crushing set. The opening song,
Rust in Pieces was quickly followed by the juicy guitar intro to
Wasted Plagues. After a quick mouthful of beer, Antony turned to the audience and started playing an elongated intro to their cover of
Psychosocial.
"Now, we wanna quickly give a message out guys, that message is this, if we dont give a fuck, then you dont give a fuck! Got it?" was the opening lyric to the hit song,
Suicide Lessons before breaking down into
Hammer.
The final song of the night was the nice and thoroughly crushing. It could only be
Heaven Burnt Down to Hell.
After the concert Rob & Lewis were interviewed by Metal Hammer.
MH: You guys played well tonight. What was it like headlining here in London?
LW: It was great. The audience responded well ...
RH: [interrupts] And nobody complained when I threw up behind the amp stacks!
MH: So you guys party hard?
RH: I like to eat before I go onstage and then I drink occasionally before going on stage. No drugs or nothing though
LW: Save the food till after? Then [drum tech] Styx wouldn't constantly threaten to quit on Quincey!
RH: I'll try, but I get hungry y'know
LW: Shut up [laughs]
MH: Whats the band atmosphere like then?
RH: We've got our new record out and we're recording a new EP at the moment.
LW: Yeah, Exorcism, it should be out on April 30th
