VF: when do you realize you wanted to be a singer?
Magie: hum, I think since I was born, I don’t know how this things happens in life, but I remember that when I was four I used to wear costumes and make performances for my family, it was hilarious, we have some homemade videos of me doing some Michael Jackson’s songs.
VF: What was the first CD that you bought?
Magie: I remember that I was ten years old and in my country, there are a famous host TV, she is called XUXA, she was host of a kid’s show and all kids in my country loved her so much, and she released lots of records and my mom gave me one of them in my tenth birthday. Every ten year old girl wanted a XUXA CD. But the first record I bought was a Miss Vanity first album, I was graduating on college, and I felt in love with her music.
VF: Did you always think you would make the success that you are doing right now?
Magie: no, I have to say that I wanted so much to be recognized somehow, and I work really hard for that, but never expected the success the band made worldwide. So it is great to know that we are recognized all around the world! Sometimes scary, but most time is great!
VF: You passed through hard moments four years ago, right now; do you feel yourself completely recovered?
Magie: It is funny to say that four years ago I thought I would never see happiness again, and it was really hard to find it. But now I can say I’m happy.
VF: What was the main reason that made you change your life to a sad person to a strong one?
Magie; Love, not the romantic sense of the word, but love from my friends and family, for their support, love from my fans that send me lots of messages and gifts, this made me realize that life sometimes isn’t fair, but there is still people around you that believe and love you!
VF: How was the process of writing the songs for your last album, and how does it feel sing them live, once they are so personal to you.
Magie: Sing them live is the best part, because when I’m singing those songs, I feel that I am being heard. But the process of writing was not easy; I mean the lyrics came easily to me, but all the songs I wrote crying in a deep state of sadness. When we were at studio and I could sing them finally out of my depression, I realize that was better, not completely recovered but better, and every time I sung them I feel better!
VF: What is the most personal song in the album?
Magie: “We Should Be Together” which I wrote for my passing Love, I still feel a little sad when I sing it, and I think I’ll always feel sad when I sing it, that’s why people think it is the best performance we did in our whole tour, maybe ‘cause I sing it with all my feelings.
VF: Are you planning another album?
Magie: We are realizing our first live DVD and album, but we are on vocations right now, with the end of the tour, and we have some ideas, I am feeling inspired right now, I think after all the storm and the sun rising that I felt in my life from past four years, made me care about my spirit, and this is inspiring me to write songs with spiritual and self recognize themes.
VF: Can we expect a new album this year?
Magie: Probably, we are in early stages but I think this year you’ll hear new songs from ElectroDeath!
VF: We heard that you are devoted to Wicca, which is modern witchcraft, is it true?
Magie: That’s the main reason of my spiritual inspiration, yes, I am devote to Wicca, a close friend of mine, introduce me the art of Wicca, which is so pure and beautiful, it made me connect to nature, and this is what we all need, to be connected with nature!
VF: Did it inspire you to start your organization?
Magie: Actually, the “HELP KIDS AGAINST SUICIDE ATTEMPT” was an idea of the whole band at all, my girls knew that what I passed trough was so hard that we should do something to help people who are passing through the same problems I was. So the whole idea came out with a decision of the whole band, we had a talk with our manager André, who talked with Malory, the president of SSR, she agreed in helping us, and we release a song for charity entitled “Santa’s Coming Home” last Xtmas, it sold over 1, 7 million digital copies, letting us to be able to start the organization.
VF: what kind of things do you make in the organization?
Magie: We try to avoid bad thoughts like suicide; by showing to people ways to express those bad feeling through art, so we do music, plays, poetry, all kinds of artistic things to express feelings. ‘Cause you know, my music saved me, so I believe that art can save people from depression.
VF: Where is the organization placed?
Magie: we have a huge manor in Los Angeles, and two other building in New York, also people can find more about them by accessing
www.hkasa.org, and also find out ways to help us. We don’t ask your money, but your love! If you want to collaborate somehow, like being a teacher, or just for the fact of giving some love, you are welcome.
VF: very cool, changing the subject, what about your heart? After a world tour, an album promotion, after all the business stuffs and the busy time you passed these year, how is your heart? Are you dating?
Magie: Well, like you said, I didn’t have time to date, actually I didn’t want to. After the death of my fiancé, I tried to avoid love from my life, so I won’t suffer anymore, I know I was wrong, and I know I’ll have to find a love, but now I’m so connected with other feelings and things that I feel complete and fill, Wicca helped me to understand certain feeling in my life that in past moments I couldn’t to.
VF: ok, last question, will you be able to make a happy album someday, with your band?
Magie: despite all the bad moments we passed, we found happiness, so maybe my music will be direct to that right now, to the search and conquering of happiness. I’m more optimist now, and I feel funnier too. You’ll see, ElectroDeath will rise, like the sun very soon!
The girls finished the world tour “MAD HOUSE” which traveled around the world with over 65 concerts, the tour was watched by over 1 million people and grossed over 85 million dollars. This was the most successful and longest tour the band ever made, now they are on vacation in a refuge in Russia, a big farm which belongs to Yulia. The girls will spend one month there, where probably the new album will born, and with him a new era to ElectroDeath and Magie Lena.
