Biography
Cherise Darwin was born on the 18th June 1992 in Brighton, a twin with her sister Celeste to proud parents Michelle and Marcus. Both herself and Celeste had enjoyed singing and dancing from a young age putting on shows in the family home and making the whole family get involved. They were encourage to follow their hearts and dreams by their parents and this is what they both did. They both attended group workshops in their hometown which heavily involved writing and performing shows for the local residents.
Cherise and Celeste originally formed pop/r'n'b duo Ang3licD3vil on their 18th birthday as a gift from their parents they got time in a recording studio where the owner was so impressed he cut a track for them and released it, they continued to work with him until the band split. Having recorded so much material 2 albums where released under Ang3licD3vil in a short time, the 2nd one after the split as their then manager/producer cashed in on Cherise's upcoming fame.
Ang3licD3vil came to an end not long after they started with Celeste deciding she wanted to go back into education and Cherise fully supporting her and Celeste supporting Cherise in wanting to continue the showbiz lifestyle and fulfill her dream of being a singer.
Having already gotten a few contacts within the business Cherise contacted her friend MattY as another rising star he suggested contacting Mallory at ShootingStarRecords this was done and Cherise was signed to a 2 album contract and began working on her solo material straight away.
In November 2010 Cherise started promoting her debut solo single 'Pyramid' and got her big break of being given a performance slot at The Chaos Awards, the performance got Cherise's name out there and things had started to take off.
'Pyramid' was a success hitting #6 in the UK charts and reaching a peak of #1 on Airplay Charts at the start of 2011.
As 2011 started off on such a high note the only way was forward for Cherise, she revealed the title of her debut album on January 1st and also the 2nd single to be taken from it. Things also changed on the contract with it becoming a joint deal between SSR and MOFM which is owned by MattY.
February 2011 saw 'Redlight' revealed with its raunchy lyrics and video it set the press on fire as Cherise had gone from girl next door to a sexy in control lady, quite a contrast from 'Pyramid'. Just to spice things up more she drafted in MattY to rap on the single and star in a special video version to accompany it. 'Redlight' was released on 28th February 2011 hitting a peak of #3 on Airplay Charts and #1 Video and Club Charts.
The debut solo album 'Destination Unknown' was released 2 weeks after 'Redlight' on March 14th hitting a peak of #2 on Heat Album Chart it featured a collaboration with Millie Little and was available on 2 editions standard and deluxe. It featured production from MattY and co-writing by Celeste and was a hit with fans and critics alike.
May 1st saw final single to be lifted off the album released 'Bottled Up' was another change in direction as a Drum'N'Bass track with a summer feel took over. It peaked at #2 on Airplay.
After the success of her debut era Cherise was quick to continue working and already had planned most of the follow up album writing songs that showed different sides to her with big ballads to club smashing hits Cherise wanted the 2nd album to really show how different she could be.
On July 3rd out came club hit 'Funkin' Me' although her lowest charting single to date, peaking at #13 Cherise still says its one of her most favourite and fun songs she has ever recorded.
The 2nd album came a couple of weeks later entitled 'The Other Sides Of.. ' it smashed its way to the top of the charts upon release and has so far sold over 3million copies, alot of this without any promotion from Cherise herself after suffering the personal tragedgy of losing her unborn daughter 'Angel'.
With the tragic loss Cherise was helped and speared on by all around her and she decided to release the emotionally charged song 'Raw' off the album. It was released at the end of July, not long after 'Funkin' Me' which damaged its sale but all interest in 'Raw' was there it peaked at #3 and has sold over 1.6million copies making it one of the top 10 best selling singles of the year.
'Raw' was the final single to be taken from 'The Other Sides Of..' which left the much talked about big vocal 'Blindfold' between Cherise and Alicia Lena as an album track only much to the disappointment of fans who wanted it to be released.
Cherise is currently working on her third album with her friend Alicia as producer for the project which can only mean big things and is scheduled for release in spring 2012 with the first single rumoured to be released end of 2011.
