What I do wonder is, why is it that we sugar coat our thoughts, every time we expose them. This is what I’m feeling at the very moment. I’m not feeling anything but this. (Steph thinks to herself one more time, before smiling)
Ha ha ha, funny. Ok………The first leg of the “Newborn” is nearly coming to an end. What are your most memorable moments so far? Every night is a memorable night at the Newborn tour. But I have to say, last night, everyone joined me on stage, for the last song, and it was pretty crazy. My shows are so free spirited; you are welcomed to do anything you want with me on stage. I always tell my fan to jump on stage with me on stage, and we can sing that last motherfucker together.
How has your life changed since releasing your album “Newborn”? Have you really reborn? My life changes all the time. Not just with an album release. After releasing Newborn, I’ve pretty much just been writing music and recording. Touring, taking care of my daughter. I’m a mother now, and that has changed my outlook in many things.
Things have changed for me musically as well. I use to walk into a studio and be like “Oh my god, I’m a recording studio”. Now walking into a recording studio, is like walking into my living room. It’s something I just do.
Some of the newer artists in the industry consider you to be too commercial with your music? Do you agree with that statement? What is with people throwing this "commercial" word, as way to attack people. If anything, that artist saying it is probably much more commercial than I am. Honestly if you are so concerned, to the point you have to point it out. You’re probably very insecure about yourself. I raise my millions to you sweetheart!
Of course I’m commercial. But my commercial success, does not define my music. It’s like I predicted the future with “Dying in the Airwaves”. All these people are coming out of nowhere hunting me down, as if I were the pump to their asthma and I can admit that it got to me, because I feel like people don't know what they're getting into. Funny thing is… I’ve actually had been the least commercial with my last two albums, out of all 5. I don’t know if people are stuck in the “Sinner’s” era or something, but I didn’t make not one commercial music video for my third album, not one televised performance! No magazine interviews! but I guess people have to overlook that, to support their statements.
With my fourth album, I did do a TV performance, three months after my album was released. One music video, which was released theday of my album. That’s pretty much it. I guess if I fart, I become commercial as well. As I said, Pop Star. Rock Star. Same fucking star. Deep down inside, we're all here for the same reason. Otherwise, you wouldn't care about being signed, nor would you be doing interviews on one of the best selling music magazine slash promoting machine in the world.
What are your views on promoting a record, for good album sales? as I said, I’m not really focused on album sells. Not because I want to seem "respected", but because I don't really care much for it. Especially At this point in my career. But of course, it’s always interesting to see if you’re somewhat relevant to the business market. I don’t “promote” my record for album sales. I’ve already sold millions of record. Most people unfortunately do have to worry about record sales, for the fact they don’t want to be dropped by their record labels. Let’s face it, that’s just how the business is nowadays. But I’m my own boss, I have nothing to worry about in that department. When I do televised performances, I do it for my fans. When I do music videos, I do it for my fans. When I go on tour, I do it for my fans. When I release music, I do it for my fans.
What are some of the new artists are you currently listening to as of late? I've been listening to a lot of new artists, actually. Just to name a fews. I’ve been listening to "Buzz & Hype"; I love what they have going on and their whole movement; they've recently contacted me about something very special coming soon, “Glamazon” also; she's written some amazing lyrics and I'm truly impressed and INSPIRED with her work, “Reported Failure” is one of those bands I'm starting to get addicted to; "Manufactured Radio" is simply amazing, “Riot! In the Boulevard" is also a band, that I've added to my playlist, they're really different from a lot bands out at the moment, "The Verdict In Vengeance", they sort of have their own thing going on as well which is cool, "Radio Vine" has been spectacular and some what underrated, but I think that's all about to change for her, and some others too. I'm honestly enjoying what people are serving up nowadays. I could list more, but those are the ones I could think of the top of my head. (Smiles)
What is your favorite color? My favorite color.....oh oh. Well.....I love shades of black. I just love the purity of the color.
So what are some of your favorite things to do, when you’re not on tour? I love to meditate. Quiet meditation is something I just recently got into. I love to spend time with my princess Helle, of course! I love to ride my 26 motorcycles, I also love to sky dive. It's like how do you go from meditating, to sky diving on a motorcycle? I believe in balance. Those are some of my favorite things to do, that aren’t music related.
