Years Active: 2004-Present Early LifeNevaeh Guliana Martinez-Smith was born on August 8, 1987 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She is the oldest child to Puerto Rican parents, Lydia and Fernando Martinez. She has three sisters, Angel, Carmen, and Nydia Martinez and three brothers, Kevin, Jose, and Tony Martinez. She lived the first 15 years of her life in Puerto Rico. While there she worked hard in school and was very popular with her classmates. She was a happy, normal girl most of her life, but that all changed when one day two of her brothers were shot in the cross fires of a Barrio gun battle. The injury left one brother, José, critically injured and the other, Tony, died on the way to the hospital. After a month went by, the doctors announced that there was nothing they could do to save him. He died a couple days later. After losing her brothers, Nevaeh fell into a long depression and developed an eating disorder as well. Her family could no longer bare to see her this way and knew that they had to act quickly. They immediately sent her to rehab so that she could get better.
A few years later they left Puerto Rico to move to Oceanside, California to get away from the tragic memories. Unfortunately the tragedies were yet to be over. At the age of 16, Nevaeh's mother was struck with breast cancer and died just a month later. Her father took it very hard and fell into a depression himself. Although Nevaeh was sad, she knew that she had to stay strong and provide for her family. She worked multiple jobs, looked after her younger brothers and sisters, and continued to go to school. She was always tired but somehow managed to keep everything together. It later paid off; in 2005 she graduated from El Camino High School. Nevaeh was very happy about completing high school but her happiness didn't last very long. Her father at this time was still not able to shake his depression and went on to die a week later from a broken heart. Nevaeh wanted to break down but she was now responsible for taking care of her remaining brother and sisters. She knew that she had to make a life better for them. She decided the best way to do this was to attend college and develop a career for herself. The first two years she worked two jobs while attending classes. At first she didn't know what she wanted to do with her life but the answer came later on. At the age of 20, she was watching television with her siblings, when she came across a music video by Hannah Beth. She instantly fell in love with Hannah's voice and decided that she wanted to do something involving music. She had always grown up with musical influence from her family. Upon this discovery, she played around with different music opportunities by moving to Hollywood, California. She found out that she really had a passion for singing and producing. After just 5 years of college, Nevaeh graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Business/ Management & Music Production and Engineering.
Once she graduated she moved back to Oceanside, California. Immediately after moving back she received a job at Oceanside Records. Due to her determination and competitiveness, she climbed her way to owner of the company in less than a year. In 2011 the company went bankrupt because of a staff member, who was stealing money from the company. Nevaeh was devastated and needed to find work soon to pursue her career goals. Luck eventually came to her when one of friends introduced her to Will.Rocca. She told him about her current situation which he then offered her a chance to become owner of Tric- Jam Records. She quickly accepted and thanked him for such an amazing opportunity.CareerNevaeh made her famous debut when she appeared on MTV's documentary series, "True Life". In 2004 she appeared on season four episode "I'm Supporting My Family at 17". The show captured the everyday struggle she went through to make sure she and her family survived. Many people were touched by her story and reached out to provide verbal and financial support to Nevaeh and her family. She also received several modeling contract offers in which she kindly accepted. Personal LifeNevaeh is married to football player, Kenyon Smith, of the New Orleans Saints. After watching Nevaeh on the episode of "True Life", Kenyon Smith fell in love with Nevaeh's beautiful looks and personality. He knew that he had to meet her and he did everything he could to make that happen. Finally in 2005 he met her at one of the events they were both attending that night and from there they hit it off great. The two dated for 2 years and later married on April 22, 2007. Coming Soon!
