Hayden Merjos Arrested in 'Domestic Violence' CaseThe acoustic star is alleged to have beaten his girlfriend Katie Coyle in the street late last night in LA Merjos is alleged to have left Katie Coyle with a bruised face, bloody nose and black eye after the attackAcoustic pop star Hayden Merjos sensationally found himself behind bars on Saturday night following an alleged assault near the beach in LA. It came after a late night argument, in what police are calling a "domestic assault case". Merjos was seen being taken from the scene in handcuffs at around 1.30AM after a member of the public called to make a complaint about an ongoing incident near the beach in the early hours. Perhaps the most bizarre thing about the whole incident is the victim of Merjos' alleged vicious late night assault; his besotted and loved up girlfriend Katie Coyle.
As Merjos was bundled into a police car by LAPD, mercifully away from the prying lenses of the paprazzi who were only seconds away, Katie Coyle was seen sat on the side of the road, her face bloody and beaten after the alleged incident. The singer sobbed uncontrollably. As the police car drove away, Coyle got onto her feet and screamed at the cops in question to let her alleged attacker to go, but it was to no avail. A while later, a neighbour who lives close to the celebrity couple in their luxurious LA street came to the aid of Coyle, cleaning the folk starlet up, and driving her, teary and devastated, back to her house.
A spokesman from the Los Angeles Police Department told Culture Uncut that a 20-year-old-male had been arrested and charged with assault in the early hours of the morning following a complaint from a member of the public.
"We arrived on scene following an earlier 911 call to find that a crowd had arrived. We discovered the male in question who was comforting his girlfriend, who's face was bloodied and beaten as she sat at the side of the road in tears. We spoke to witnesses who alleged that the gentleman had struck his girlfriend repeatedly on the face with his fist after an argument.
"The distraught victim claimed that she had fallen, repeatedly, but this is something that we hear often when it comes to domestic assault cases. A lot of the abusers tell their wives and girlfriends to say that they walked into a door. It's an open and shut case so far as we see. There are witnesses and a victim. Police need to talk to the victim to establish some of the truth around what happened."
Police went on to say that Merjos had been charged with domestic assault and would need to go before a judge on Monday morning before such times as his family and friends, who are sure to mortified that a member of the brilliant Merjos clan has become embroiled in such a dispute, will be able to apply for bail conditions to be able to see him released from jail in the meantime at least.
Culture Uncut managed to also contact the complainant in the attack, a woman in her 20s who called the 911 emergency in and made the initial allegations against Merjos. She said that herself and a friend had rounded the corner near the beach to see a young couple arguing, before the man lashed out and repeatedly struck his girlfriend in the face, before appearing to show some form of immediate remorse and trying to comfort her and make her feel better before police arrived on scene to find the couple still there.
"Me and my friend came around the side of the building," she said, "and we saw Hayden Merjos and Katie Coyle shouting at each other. She was crying and he was all up in her face. Next thing was, she stood on her toes to shout back at him, and he pulled his arm back and hit her right in the face. She stumbled back and then he hit her again. There was blood everywhere. We were scared so we just called the cops, but the next thing, Hayden was cuddling up to her and telling her it would be ok.
"When they took him away in the cop car, he was covered in blood all over his shirt from her face, and Katie was still crying."

Katie Coyle didn't look as happy and carefree as she arrived at the police station near her home this morning.
Katie herself was spotted visiting the station where Hayden is being held this morning. Culture Uncut believes she was required to give a statement on the story, while she, as victim, was not permitted to see her boyfriend. As she left the station, Katie was pictured with large sunglasses covering her brusied eye, although some bruising could be seen on her cheek, and her lip was badly swollen.
