11:00PM - Channel 4 - ... Live with Liam O'MallyOpening sequence to show begins; imitating a Jool’s Holland intro with Liam waking up late, getting hit by his taxi, crashing through the doors, making out with the receptionist before bursting into the studio. The audience applauds Liam as he enters. The room is laid out much like Jonathan Ross’s previous studio, with a section for performing and also a great deal of rock memorabilia is dotted around. The audience are round in curve facing the two ugly looking sofas, with only a coffee table in the middle and no coffee to be seen. An acoustic guitar leans delicately on one of the sofas.”Hello everybody! Boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Live with Liam O’Mally!”Crowd cheers almost over enthusiastically. ”Well everyone how lovely to see you all here! And everyone at home of course great to have you all watching, brilliant way to start of the series. Well tonight everyone we have a fantastic guest lined up, and he’ll performing one of his own songs and also one accompanied by me!”The crowd cheer again.”He’s one of the most controversial performers ever, you love him or you hate him, but at the end of the day he’s not going to care unless your tits are DD and up! He’s sold millions of CD’s with one of the most influential rock bands of our modern times, and he’s given entranced millions more with his Bluesy solo efforts. Probably the most versatile man in the industry right this moment - Ryan Ross Hernandez ladies and gentleman! ”The audience cheers emphatically, Ryan walks on with typical confidence and charm. He pauses and waves at the audience for a moment before Liam walks over and gives him a hug. The two exchange a few quiet words before Liam show’s Ryan to his sofa.”Ryan! So glad to have you on the show what a first guest eh everybody! Awesome!”“Ahh it’s a pleasure to be here Liam haha!”
”I’m sure it is I’m sure it is, so I hear you’ve been spending a lot of time in England recently?”“Yeah it’s been really cool to be here, some fantastic fans here in England and also I get to spend a lot of time with Nadia which is always great.”
”And that’s the Girlspice Nadia am I correct?”“Yeah that’s true we’ve been dating a long time now, she’s a really cool person and it gives me an excuse to come over here haha!”
”As if you needed one! It must be difficult though right, settling down with such a reputation as yours?”“Well I don’t know man she’s a really cool person and I love spending time with her, and I’ve been focussing a lot on the new album so not so much time to be keeping up to my reputation I guess!”
”Yeah well I doubt that, I’m sure Ryan Ross Hernandez can find some time to talk to women. But anyway this show isn’t about what the public thinks about you it’s about you and the kind of person you really are underneath all the magazine articles, but most of all it’s about your music! And right now you’ve got a song to play for us do you not?”“Indeed I have Liam, it’s called ‘The Half-Hearted Lover’ and I’m pretty sure some of you would have heard it!”
The crowd cheer as Ryan runs over to the performing stage.”Give it up everyone for Ryan Ross Hernandez and ‘The Half-Hearted Lover’!” As the audience applaud the lights dim down to see Ryan begin performing his first of two songs of the night.*Ryan finishes song, followed by ad-break.*
The show returns with applause from the audience, the coffee table now filled with mugs of coffee.”Welcome back everyone just before the ad-break that was Ryan Ross Hernandez performing one of his biggest hits, you chose not to do an accompanying tour with that album however why was that?”“Well really it was kind of down to my own ego, because I found that after I’d done ‘Let A Man Be Lost’ I couldn’t really top it, physically, I felt myself that in a way I couldn’t do it justice in a tour at that time, so I decided to knuckle down straight away with the follow up album called ‘Running Changes’. In a way I was kind of frightened that that was it, that I’d peaked and I’d just slither away into obscurity like bands or artists tend to do when they reach they’re peek. And I sure as hell wasn’t going to kill myself! So I felt not touring would probably be the best option.”
”Do you regret that now maybe?”“No I wouldn’t say so, there’s a right and a wrong time to do everything in life and I felt that was just the right time to take a break from touring.”
”And also I hear you’re making a film adaptation of the album? How do you go about adapting music to a film without making it a musical?”“Well the film actually is kind of reflective on me, as was the album. The albums got a whole load of songs on it that really was just me telling stories. But at that time I felt the best way to tell those stories was through music. But obviously now I’ve seen how much people loved them and I though hell why not, I wasn’t finished creatively with the album and I still had a whole bunch of ideas. I thought making a few short films would be a really cool arty prick kind of thing to do, but eventually it just snowballed really and after we had a heap of people investing with production and shit, it’s turned into something ever bigger than I’d expected!”
”You’re writing all of it though of course?”“Yep I am I’m writing the screenplay, I won’t be directing it though thankfully got someone in who knows what they’re doing for that!”
”Well yeah but I mean that’s the thing about you I think, half the fascination with you is just how versatile and how many different things you’ve turned your hand to. And not only that but whatever you’ve done has been outstanding, when a lot of musicians do things outside the box it can tend to suck a bit. Would you say there was anything you’ve done in particular that was your favourite ‘outlet’ of your ingenuity?”“Well thank you, erm I’d probably say my second solo album was my most important outlet, not sure about favourite but it was what I needed to do at the time and by doing it, it really furthered me as an artist and made me see the light if you will. I’d spent a lot of time with Panic! and although they were some fucking amazing times with those guys, it wasn’t my first musical love if you will. I wanted to do the music I loved, not the music I did as a job. I felt almost like I’d stopped being what I wanted to be, and turned into something that involved other people i.e. the band, the fans etc. And I’ve always been a pretty selfish ass and I wanted to get back to making music I loved, for myself. You can say I went mainstream or whatever with Panic! whatever you’d like to say but at the end of the day I made a different kind of music from the music I do now. And the music I do now still sells millions of copies, so perhaps I have always been mainstream, or perhaps mainstream goes wherever I go! Who knows, probably the latter, but yeah I think it was definitely most important.”
”Of course that was a really tough time in your life though wasn’t it?”“Yeah it was I’d just had a pair of kidney stones which I tell you now, are seriously unfuckingpleasant. And I literally spent almost the whole time getting dosed with shit to stop the pain and walking around my room, getting dosed some more then going for scans. I’m not being controversial and saying it was divine fate or something, but those stones were definitely influential in my life and my progression as an artist. If I’d stayed with Panic! I could be anywhere by now.”
”Yeah well I’m certainly a fan and glad you had them, as I loved the last album and I’m sure I’ll love this new one. Can you give us any details as to when it’s released?”“I sure can Liam my new album ‘Running Changes’ will be released on October 31st around the world APART from the USA where it’ll be released on November 1st, and my first single from the album will be available later this month.”
”Brilliant news, well I’m afraid that’s all we have time for tonight Ryan thank you very much for being on the show it’s been a pleasure to have you here, but we’ve got one more thing up our sleeves don’t we Ryan?”“Hahaaa yes we do tonight Liam, would you do me the honour of singing a duet with me?”
”Why, it would be an honour Mr. Hernandez!”“Excellent, so, how’s about a little tune named The World Is Black & White?”
”Fabulous! Let us prepare!”
The crowd laugh and cheer as Liam and Ryan take to the stage together, with Liam on the guitar and Ryan on vocals. They both perform the song together as the credits roll down the screen.ooc: Hope everyone who reads it enjoys it, took a fucking age to write and it's still early days for the whole talk show idea. So feedback positive or negative would be great! Also Panic! gave my full permission to GodMod here so a big thank you to him for letting me use his character! Hope you like it!
