Almost all the artists I listen to make albums first, songs second. To me, there needs to be some theme, some idea, some cohesive glue to an album. A vague central theme at the very least. Otherwise I'm probably not interested in it. Yeah, I'm with this guy. An album is an experience in itself, it needs to be taken in as it was intended by the artists. same... an album should take you on an emotional journey, otherwise its not doing its job properly I remember reading lots of hilarious reviews by 12 year olds, of Limp Bizkit and Slipknot albums and what not, where they give scores out of 10 to every song, and they always score those 1 minute intro and outro type songs really low and stuff. Even beyond that, Frances the Mute, my favourite Mars Volta record, has a shitload of what people might call "noise" or "ambient bullshit" or whatever, often running for three or four solid minutes. Loads of people at the time went on about re-editing the album to remove these parts and I really do not get that attitude, because to me those parts sound really cool. Also, if you don't like those parts, you're probably missing the point of the record a little bit. Edited by user 03 March 2012 00:56:53(UTC)

A Flash Flood Of Colour by Enter Shikari.
I'm so in love with this album, there's not a single bad track on it (IMO)
